*Kali boards the Ebon Hawk in the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, and heads to the cockpit. She fires up the engines and does a pre-flight check of all systems* *T3 comes rolling around the corner* Bweep! *Kali jumps* Holy karking Force! Teethree, don't do that to people! Next time I'm libel to slice your head off with my lightsaber. Dwoo.... Beep boop, bizzip. What? You do too have a head! Beep boop. It's that round thing on the top of you that swivels around! woooo....Yeah, that's what I thought. Now go plug into the Computer, I need to to calculate our jump to hyperspace. *T3 rolls out into the hallway and into the side room and plugs into the computer console* Bweep?Manaan. *the Ebon Hawk rises up and flys out of the Temple, heading up into Coruscant's orbit* *T3 rolls back into the cockpit* Dweep.Good. That should do it. Okay, punching it. *Kali pulls the lever back and the ship jumps into hyperspace, stars become lines, and then everything fades into a swirling blue tunnel. She sits back in the cockpit* Well... here we go again. Can you patch us through to Dauntless Battlegroup on Telos IV? Beep. *rolls over to the computer console and plugs in, a channel opens to the Dauntless*=Captain Brex= ::This is Captain Brex aboard the Dauntless, to whom am I speaking?::=Me= This is General Kali Black. =Captain Brex= ::Ah, General, I was told that you were back. It's a pleasure to serve with you once again, maam.::=Me= I'm sorry, again? =Captain Brex= ::We served together aboard the Vigilance during the Mandalorian Wars. I was a Lieutenant then.::=Me= Ahh yes. I think I remember. The aspiring young Duro. =Captain Brex= *laughs* ::Yes, that would be me. What can we do for you, General?::=Me= Looks like we've got a situation on Manaan. How quickly can you meet me there? =Captain Brex= ::We're on Telos IV, it'll take a little while. But not horribly long. What kind of trouble, General?::=Me= The red lightsaber kind. =Captain Brex= ::That's what I was afraid off. We'll meet you there in no time.::=Me= Don't start without me. =Captain Brex= ::Likewise, General. Dauntless out.:: *the transmission ends*=Me= *sits back and sighs* Yep, rushing headlong into battle with the Sith. Just like the good ol' days, eh T3? Bweepbeepbeepboop dwooo!!Woah, woah, woah, slow down. What? Bweep beep beep boop dwooo!A Jedi distress signal? Coming from where? Dwooo... beep.Okay, well alter our course and drop out of hyperspace. The starchart calls it.... Ilum? Huh, never heard of it. *The Ebon Hawk drops out of hyperspace around Ilum* T3, can you get a fix on that distress call? Bweep.Good. Take us down. *The Ebon Hawk descends to the surface of the planet*

*The Ebon Hawk descends from orbit, slowly making its way through the wind and snow. It sets down about a hundred meters from the distress call's origin, the landing skids sinking into the snow several feet*
Okay. I'm headed out there. I'll just be a minute. Stay here.
Beep.
*Kali walks to the back of the Ebon Hawk, and presses the button to lower the boarding ramp. It lowers and Kali walks out, but hits her head on the top of the Ebon Hawk, due to the boarding ramp not lowering all the way down because of the snow*
SON OF A MURGLAK!
*T3-M4 rolls over to the boarding ramp* Beep?
*Kali rubs her forehead* Do I look okay to you!?
Dwoo.... Dweep.
Oh switch off. I don't need to hear that from you.
Beep boop.
I don't care if I asked your or not. Now stay here with the ship. I'll be right back, see if I can find our distress-e.
*Kali trudges off through the snow in the direction of the signal*

*Kali reenters the Ebon Hawk with Lee (Smith) Katarn in tow*
T3, I think you'll remember our guest.
Bweep!
We'll I hate to just pick you up and dash off again, Lee, but we're kind of in a hurry.

*Lee raises an eyebrow at her last words.*
Why do I get a bad feeling when you say that?
*Lee rubs his neck, obviously looking sore and tired.*
As long as there's no involvement of sith lords, I guess it'll be fine. I've had my fill of them.

*Lee glares at Kali for a moment.*
You've got to be kidding me.
*He sighs aloud and looks at the floor for a moment shaking his head before he looks at her again.*
As long as they're not attacking Manaan *again*. That move gets tiresome after so many tries. I had to kill Darth Talik last time to free the planet.
*Lee walks off towards the cockpit area.*
Well, no sense talking here. We can talk and get to where ever the heck you need to be at the same time. Multi tasking does get things done faster afterall.

*Kali shifts uncomfortably for a minute, both at the reference to Manaan and the one to Darth Talik*
*T3 swivils his head back and forth between Kali and Lee* Bweep dwoop boop beep? (Translation: He's really out of the loop, isn't he?)
*Kali squints her face in frustration*
Yeah, we have some serious catching up to do.
*Kali leads the way to the Cockpit, and sits down in the pilots seat*
Hey T3. Can you plug in the hyperspace coordinates for... umm... the planet we talked about earlier.
Dwoop? (translation: You mean Manaan?)
*Kali does a mental headdesk* Yes... I mean Manaan. *she doesn't bother looking back at Lee as she does the pre-flight check*

*Lee sits down in the seat across from Kali as she takes the pilot's seat. He doesn't take much note of the exchange between Kali and T3 until he hears Manaan. To which he slaps his forehead.*
Kark it all. Not again!
*Lee slumps into the chair.*
Well, let's get this over with. Again. I'm not even going to ask who the sith lords are this time.

Don't worry. It's not Talik this time. Last I heard he was still under surveillance on Coruscant.

What in the karking-that sleemo is still alive? Son of a schutta!
*Lee shivers at the mention of Coruscant*
Ugh. Definently don't bring me there. You can just drop me off at Dantooine. I'm sure everyone's going to want to know my "big story" anyway. I can only imagine how worried Monica, Alex, or even Master Vandar have been.

*Kali takes a deep breath*
*She looks back at T3*
*T3 makes a small chirp, the equivalent of a shrug* Bweep dwoop dwoo..... Translation: Don't look at me. I'm not telling him.
*By this point the Ebon Hawk is in Ilum's orbit. Kali pulls back the lever, and the ships jumps into hyperspace bound for Manaan*
*She sits back in her seat and looks over at Lee*
Okay.... I probably shouldn't be the one to tell you this.... but being that there really isn't anyone else here, I'm gonna have to tell you.
*she takes a deep breath*
First of all.... Dantooine is... well, it's under Sith control.

*Lee's eyes grow wide for a moment before his look goes from tired to hardened with seriousness.*
How? I know they attacked once. But we repelled them! These dogs need to learn some new tricks. Did everyone make it out alive? Monica, Alex, Astefan, Deanna, Ryan, Amy, Aramis? Any of them? What about Master Shan or Master Vandar? Or the other Masters?
*By now Lee's mind was filled with questions and concerns. He was starting to understand the impact of the time he'd been gone.*

*Kali hangs her head*
As far as I know, we were the only ship to make it off planet.... We only had a few people on board. Master Kae, Master Dorak, a few of the new initiates, and Natan Harlak. According to the initiates.... Master Vandar was attacked by the traitor, it was pretty bad. I don't know if he made it off the planet with any of the others after us or not.
*She looks at T3 again, searching for help in telling Lee this next part, T3 just gives another chirp. Kali sighs*
I'm sorry Lee, I didn't want to be the one to tell you this... but Alex... he's turned to the Dark Side, Lee. Alex is Darth Talik.

*Lee grits his teeth as Kali explains everything and the true impact of his vanishing had hit him. He'd been gone far too long. Lee slams his fist on one of the panels, though no real damage is done.*
Blast it all. I'm gone for a year and everything's falling apart. Dantooine's gone, Alex is a sith.
*Lee stares off into space before an angry look flashes on his face.*
No. Something's not right. He took *that* name.
*Lee looks over to Kali*
Let me know when we hit Manaan. I've got some saber modifying to do.
*With that Lee promptly gets up and takes out a small sack filled with crystals he aquired on Ilum. Obvious he's going off by himself to think things over. He walks out the cockpit with a final nod to Kali.*
Thanks for picking me up by the way. Appreciate that. *Lee pauses for a moment.* And the update.
*Lee then walks over to the back of the Ebon Hawk. He sets his lightsabers on the table and opens the small bag of crystals and begins modifying the sabers he has.*

Yeah... no problem.
*Kali watches as Lee leaves. After he is gone, she turns to T3*
Could you just be a tad less supportive? Is it possible?
Bweeep boop dwoop!
I don't care if you're programing includes a sympathy algorithm or not! That kid's just lost everything, everyone, he knows and cares about. And you just sit in the corner? Is it too much for just a pat on the back or something?
Dweep.
Oh, you know what I mean!
*Kali swivels around and idly pushes buttons on the control panel*
Dwoop beep?
No, leave him alone. He needs time to think.
Dwooo....
*Kali remains sitting in the cockpit until they reach Manaan*

*Kali looks at the chart and notices that they are nearly to the Manaan system. She gets up and walks back to the Garage where Lee is working on his lightsabers*
Hey. We're just about there. You can come up to the cockpit if you want. Hopefully this won't take long.
*Kali walks back up to the cockpit and sits down*
*The Ebon Hawk flashes out of hyperspace just above the Dauntless Battlefleet*
*she opens a channel to the Republic Fleet that is already in orbit over Manaan*
Kali Black to Dauntless. Do you copy?
=Captain Brex= ::We copy, General. Everything alright?::
=Me= Oh yeah. We just had to make a pit stop on the way here to pick up an old friend. Hows the view?
=Captain Brex= ::Just peachy, General. Looks like we'd be about evenly matched... that is if they hadn't already been through a battle. Half their turbolaser batteries are exhausted, their shields and armor are weakened, and their crews must be just as exhausted as those turbolasers. We've definitely got the upper hand here, General, no question about it.::
=Me= Great. I'll keep in touch. *Kali closes the channel* T3, patch me through to the lead Sith ship.
Bwoop?
I dunno. The one in front, I guess.
Beep boop.
Fine! If they are all in a straight line then pick the one in the middle!
*T3 opens the channel to the Sith ship*
Sith Fleet, this is General Kali Black. You have invaded Republic territory and committed an act of war against the sovereign world of Manaan. I ask you to please recall any and all ground forces and remove yourselves from this system immediately.

*Lee looks back over his shoulder at Kali as she talks.*
Yeah. Be right there.
*He turns his attention back to the lightsaber he's working on. He carefully aligns one of the crystals he picked up from Ilum and places it in the saber. Once it's just right, he re-aligns everything, closes the hilt and activates it. The saber ignites with a sharp hum as it's blade glows silver. Lee takes a few steps back so everything's out of his way and takes a few practice swings. The lightsaber glides easily around him in a blur. He then stops and points it forward before deactivating it and clipping it to his belt. After he does so, he looks at his robes.*
I'm definently going to need a change of robes soon.
*He makes his way back to the cockpit and sits in the seat across from Kali as he hears her arguing with T3. Carefully Lee looks over the two opposing fleets.*
Fleet battles. Never my thing. I always preferred any fight I could use my lightsaber for.
*Lee's quiet for a moment as Kali speaks to the opposing fleet.*
Pretty words. You sound like a pro at this.
*Lee makes the obvious reference to previous battles she'd been in before Lee's time as a Jedi. Lee once again looks over the sith fleet.*
Things are so different now, yet it all seems the same.
*He reaches out with the Force and tries to feel anything familiar to him.*
That taint. It's different. It's not Sion or Talik, definently not Freedon. Old, but not familiar. New sith lords, that's just what I want to come back to. I'm guessing there's still plenty of updates I've yet to hear.

=Dark Underlord= *Within moments of the Republic Fleet's Arrival, the Nightfall and her escort resumes position within the Sith Fleet, a reply is sent to the General, the Dark Underlord appears on the screen before her, his eyes glowing electric blue within the dark confines of his umbarran helmet, the shoulder armor within the view of the Holocomm covered in runes glowing the same electric blue, his deep voice echoes within the cockpit*
::General Kali Black, it's been a long time since I heard that name uttered. It seems you have arrived at the most inconvenient time as ever, however, your reputation precedes you. I plan to leave this system now unscathed. If you wish to try to stop me, you will have to kill every one of my men and myself. Allow us exit from this system, and you shall end the day without losses.... to Your fleet that is. I'm afraid the good general Zhar was not so fortunate. Pray good general you will not make the same mistake, and allow me exit. Without following ships thank you, I would hate to have any ships you send after me to be met with... unfortunate circumstances. That is all General, I shall see what your answer is in your fleet movements. Until we meet again::
*Without waiting for an answer, the holocomm shuts off, and the sith fleet collapse into a clustered formation, designed to fight off superior forces as long as possible, achieving maximum casualties for any attacker*
=Me= *Kali receives the response aboard the Ebon Hawk*
*she looks over at Lee and T3*
Well that's one I haven't seen before. A Sith that knows when to back down?
Dwoowoo?
When did this start happening? And did the guy kill his own messenger or something?
*sighs*
I guess I'll just have to repeat myself again.
*she opens up the channel again*
::Oh, hi, it's General Black again. Sorry to interrupt your little pow-wow over there, but you're the only one talking about exchanging weapons fire. Why don't you just follow my instructions and leave already. There's no need to make it more complicated then it already is. The door's to your right. Don't let it smack you on your way out. Black out.::
*she cuts the transmission*

|
Post by Lee Katarn on Feb 7, 2009 20:15:33 GMT -5
*Lee looks unimpressed at the image before him. Though he studies the image of the sith lord. He says nothing until the transmission is cut.*
So that's the guy? Can't say I'm impressed. Though when you tangle with the worst of the Sith Lords, I suppose your view can be a bit biased. Though you're right, he did listen. It'd make sense. His ships have already seen battle and ours are coming in fresh. If he's looking to limit casualties and spend his resources wisely...
*Lee stops his ramblings and looks over at Kali.*
I don't suppose there's a visual recording of what's going on with that sith fleet, is there? And maybe a recording of the transmission between that sith lord and you?
*Lee looks back over at the Sith fleet, still uneasy about all this.*
I just wish these guys would leave Manaan alone.

*Kali nods to Lee*
Yeah, the Hawk's sensors should have recorded any ship movements within sensor range. And the communication logs are stored until wiped. You can use the Communication's Room just behind this cockpit, if you want to take a look.
*Within moments, the Sith Fleet begin their move, and steer clear of the republic fleets, the sith officers and crewers breathing a sigh of relief at the choice to leave. The Sith Fleet slips into hyperspace*
*Kali looks out of the viewport window, as the Sith ships jump into hyperspace*
Well that takes care of that. T3 open up the channel to the Dauntless again.
*T3 opens up the channel*
=Captain Brex= ::I don't know what you said to those Sith, General, but it sure as hell worked. Congradulations.::
=Me= The thanks goes to the men and women serving on your ship and the rest of the ships in the fleet. How about we give the Selkath a hand?
=Captain Brex= ::I'm sending down several shuttles with medical and repair teams right now.::
*As he says so 8 shuttles are launched from several different ships in the fleet, and head down to the surface*
=Me= Good work, Captain. I'll go ahead and head down to Ahto City too.
=Captain Brex= ::Sure thing, General. We'll stick around up here in case the Sith decide to swing back around for another pass. The Force be with you General.::
=Me= And you, Captain. *she closes the comm line and looks over at T3 and Lee* Well, let's go see the damage.
*The Ebon Hawk breaks from its holding pattern above the fleet and streaks down to the surface of Manaan*

*Lee nods to Kali.*
I'll check them out. Probably me being overcautious, but the sith make you uneasy.
*Lee heads back to the communications room and begins scanning and checking everything he can from the encounter.*
Hm. Nothing suspicious, I suppose. Guess I'm just touchier than I use to be. Still, that just seemed too easy despite the logic in their move.
*Lee places a hand on one of the panels and leans on one arm while rubbing his head with his free hand. He leans back up and relaxes again, trying to go over his Jedi meditations to fight the fatigue creeping over him.*
::*To himself* You've been through worse Lee. Hang on a little longer and you'll get the rest and nourishment you require. Tend to these Selkath first though.::
*Lee walks back into the cockpit as Kali looks over to him.*
With any luck, it won't be as bad as I've seen it get in these battles.

No. Resting can wait. *Some* of my friends must still be alive...and on the right side.
*Lee rubs his head as he makes his way towards the cockpit and takes a quick turn into the Communications Room. He looks over the panels for a bit before coming up with the first person to contact.*
Yeah. I'll see if I can get in touch with her. If anyone's survived any of this, it's her.
*Lee contacts someone over the comm.*

*Lee cuts the transmission and takes a step back with a weary sigh.*
Well...that's two less worries to deal with. But looks like...I'll be making a trip to Corellia soon.
*Lee walks out the Communications room with a new look of hope on his face.*
::*To himself* Maybe they're not all lost...like I thought. Maybe they're just scattered.::
*Lee raises his hand and clinches his fist.*
::And if they're scattered. Then they can be found...and brought back together.::
*Lee makes his way slowly to one of the bunks in the Ebon Hawk, the one just past the boarding ramp. Slowly he makes his way in and to one of the cots. Slowly he takes off his cloak and lets it fall to the ground. Lee then eases his way onto the cot and stretches out as he kicks off his shoes and rolls over to his side to face the doorway. Perhaps now a habit formed over his long vanishing period. Slowly his eyes grow heavy and close. His mind begins to fuzz as he finally succumbs to sleep.*

*a tall rust-colored droid carrying a heavy blaster peaks into the dormitory where Lee is sleeping*
Statement: The organic meatbag has entered his regeneration cycle. Now would an appropriate time to dispose of the unwanted specimen. Retraction: Then again, murdering him while he is asleep devalues the thrill one enjoys from such brutish activities. Conclusion: Perhaps I should wake him so that I may murder him with more satisfaction.
*The droid enters the dormitory and lowers the butt of his heavy blaster to hit Lee in the side of the head*
*Kali and T3 enter the Ebon Hawk from the Manaan Docking Bay*
No, I'm telling you that Thek doesn't stand a chance in the championships. Sigel is a much better pazzak player, hands down.
Boop-oop, dwooo, beep.
It doesn't matter if Thek hasn't lost a game in this year's tournament. The point is Sigel has him outclassed. Her rankings speak for themselves, she's -
*they walk by the dormitory to see HK-47 about to smack Lee upside the head*
HK! What the hell do you think you're doing?
*HK-47 looks up at Kali and stands to full height*
Answer: Disposing of an infestation, master.
Lee is not an infestation! He's a guest!
Apology: I apologize, master. I was not aware that we had taken on yet another pathetic meatbag lifeform. Suggestion: Perhaps if you informed me of crew changes I would not accidentally fire my blaster into their skulls.
Yeah... right. I'll keep that in mind. Can you go somewhere else?
Answer: Negative, master. These are my assigned quarters.
Well then assign yourself new ones.
Statement: Very well master. I shall return to the storage compartment.
*HK leaves the dormitory and walks to the storage compartment*
*Kali watches HK leave, then turns to T3*
T3, you stay here and keep an eye on Lee. Make sure HK doesn't try to... dispose of him again.
Dwoo... boop!
Don't worry, there's no chairs here for him to throw at you this time.
Dwoo....
That's a good droid.
*pats him on the head, T3 gives a disgruntled chirp. Kali then heads to the cockpit, fires up the engines, and takes off, leaving Ahto City. The Ebon Hawk rises up out of the atmosphere, enters orbit, and then pauses as the computer does the calculation for a jump into hyperspace. The Ebon Hawk then jumps into hyperspace bound for Coruscant*
