*I follow them to the compartment, and brush the snow off my robes. I chuckle when T3 tosses snow all over, and then he chirps.*
"You're like a puppy-dog."
*I smile, and head to the cockpit as well.*

*Before the Ebon Hawk even enters orbit, a holo-transmission from General Rhylla is recieved.*
::Ebon Hawk, transmit codes and make your way to Exultant's main hangar post haste.::
*There is a pause as Rhylla's holo looks around the cockpit from the tranciever's viewpoint.*
::Where is Zhar?::

*Kali hadn't even finished with the start-up sequence, let alone lift off the ground, when the transmission from Rhylla comes through*
Uhhh.... you know, that's kinda creepy. Zhar is on the other ship. You know, the one that you guy's just let land in the polar regions. The Moldy Crow or something?
*Kali goes about starting up the engines as the transmission continues*
So yeah, we won't be landing in your main hangar any time soon. No offense, I'm sure it's pretty enough, I just like going things on my own steam. Black out.
*She flips off the transmission*
Well, lets get underway, shall we?
*She punches the button to retract the boarding ramp, and then guides the Ebon Hawk up off the ground, setting course for orbit*

*After dropping Christopher off on the Exultant, the Ebon Hawk flies around Telos's orbit for a while. It then heads over to Ryloth for a quick visit with one of Kali's old friends, then travels back to Telos*
Alright, taking her down.
Beep dweoop boop?
No, we'll land in the hangar this time. No need getting all cold on the mesa if we don't have to.
*The Ebon Hawk descends through Telos's atmosphere and heads into the polar regions. It glides along the windy valley that leads to the Polar Academy. The Ebon Hawk flies past the Academy*
Dweoop boop!
Yes, yes, I saw it. I'm just... umm... making a loop around the outside, that's all. Making sure everything looks right, ya know?
*Kali grits her teeth and swings the Ebon Hawk back around, and into the hangar. She sets the Hawk down nicely on the right side of the hangar, and starts shutting down the engines. She triggers the hatch to open up the boarding ramp, and then heads back*
Come on T3, you can come too.
Bweep!
*T3 rolls along after Kali, pleased to be accompanying her again*

*Kali and T3 board the Ebon Hawk from the Telos Academy hangar. Kali is still fuming from her encounter with Kavar, followed by stepping on a dead mynock, and then Atton yelling at her. As they enter Atton tries to explain*
Can it Atton. I'm not in the mood right now. Just please get us to Nar Shaddaa, and as far away from this karking place and Kavar as possible.

*Atton shrugs his shoulders.*
Fine. As you wish.
*He nearly wanted to sneer, but he knew better than to test Kali right now. He had enough of people either riding his case or being totally stupid. Being in the cockpit flying the Hawk might give him some peace. He walks over to the cockpit and sits in the pilot's seat. When everyone's aboard, he primes the engines. Then hanger opens, the Ebon Hawk lifts up and glides out into Telos' atmosphere heading to orbit.*

*Lee listens to Kali and Atton as they board the Ebon Hawk. He still feels awkward and wants to stay out of the subject, but he snaps his head to attention when he hears Kavar's name. Either he hadn't known or he forgot that the two were once an item.*
::*To himself* That gal's got one strange love life.::
*He slips out of the cockpit as the Hawk is prepped for take off. When the Hawk enters Telos' atmosphere, Lee is in the back on the work station. Before him is the lightsaber he had dismantled and tried to put back together before Kali interrupted him, causing him to lose his concentration and sent it to pieces on the ground. Not that he really held it against Kali. Infact, it gave him something to do while he was on the Hawk. *
*When he had all his pieces ready. He closed his eyes and leaned forward on the workbench. He began concentrating and all the lightsaber parts lifted into the air and began sliding into place. He strained as he tweeked the focusing crystal into place. He knew it was a bit off last time he constructed this lightsaber. He wanted to try and realign it. If it could perform better, then it'd just be all that much more helpful on Dantooine. Any edge he could get, he would gun for.*
*After some time concentrating on putting the focusing crystal just right, he began focusing on putting the other pieces in place before working on closing the casing. The strain on his face was obvious.*

*Lee senses Master Shim as she approaches him, more prepared for her than he was of Kali's sudden arrival. He manages to keep his lightsaber steady as he pieces it together.*
Yes. I've always found the Exile and her crew a bit odd. But I suppose when you're one of the last of the Jedi fighting off a few Sith Lords during a Jedi Purge, a little weirdness would develop from that.
*He adjusts the lens slightly to the left as he continues speaking.*
But I suppose I've dealt with weirder. At the very least, I'm just glad she's on our side. I was only just accepted into the Order when she went all dark side, but I can remember how ruthless she was.
*The first memory that pops into Lee's head is Monica fighting Kali's HK-51, then the Handmaiden losing to Kali.*
They are not pleasant memories, to say the least.
*Lee grows quiet again as he places the lens exactly where he wants it. Once he's satisfied, he moves on to delicately placing the emitter just right.*

*I watch him reassemble his lightsaber*
"Indeed. She and her companions are a bit odd, though with the help of the Force, they are our allies now."
*Listening to him, I say afterwards*
"I bet. I was in a suspended animation for some time, so I certainly know what the Dark-side users are like. I fought during the Great Sith War."
*Placing my hand on my forehead, I run my fingers through my hair.*

Yeah. I can't say from first hand experience what that war was like. But I know more about the sith than I care for.
*Lee winced slightly as he fought back another flash of memory from the time he had been gone. But he played it off well as he was in the middle of adjusting the emitter.*
I guess I've still got a long way to go before I'm up to Master Kavar's level. I remember all the times I'd watch him disassemble and reassemble his lightsabers with his mind effortlessly. I'm having trouble with just this one.
*But his tone was obvious, he enjoyed this challenge. He was testing himself, pushing himself to grow stronger. But there was a hidden fear in all of it. He was afraid he had grown weak over the last few months. It would be understandable, considering how his body was still finishing healing itself after what it had endured for over a year. But that didn't matter to Lee. He had to be ready and able, or else he was prey yet again to the sith.*
You said you fought in the Great Sith War. I don't suppose you crossed paths with Exar Kun then?
*Lee still hadn't turned to face the Jedi Master. He didn't want to seem rude. But he couldn't lose anymore focus on recontruscting his lightsaber either. He'd need it for this mission.*

*I watch as Lee works on his lightsaber while speaking. When he asks the question, I nod, and say*
"I saw some of him and what he is capable of. I also remember hearing about the vicious duel between he and Jedi Master Vodo-Siosk Baas. I was with another unit when the duel took place."

I've only read the historical articles on it. Master Jolee Bindo talked a bit about it, but other than that I don't know much else.
*Lee placed the emitter exactly where he wanted it. Feeling all the components and crystals were in place, he began working on setting it within the casing and closing it. He would be through after this, so he didn't want to mess up now. There was a saying for that, tripping at the finish line. Lee didn't want that.*
With a Jedi of your experience, I can see why Master Vandar placed you on this mission.

*I listen, and take notice of what Lee is doing with his saber. After he speaks, I say*
"We each have a reason for being on this mission. The Force knows these. With the Force as our Guide, I hope the Holocrons are still yet undisturbed. If they were found, it will make our mission that much more difficult."
*Taking my lightsaber off my belt, I ignite it and look at the blade. Seeing a slight variance in the blade width, I deactivate the blade and open it up in my hand. Using the Force, I rotate the lens left a few tenths of a degree. Closing it up, I reactivate it and see it has gotten worse. Deactivating it, I open it up in my hand. I rotate the lens right until its about a few tenths past where it was initially. Closing it up, I reactivate it and see its much better.*

*As Atton walks from the cockpit he announces their arrival on Nar Shadda. He passes by the two Jedi on his way to the boarding ramp, noticing the two of them working on their sabers.*
So this is how Jedi socialize.

Yes. I only hope the sith haven't discovered them. It'd only make them that much more formidable. They're already a force to be reckoned with...no pun intended.
*He makes no comment to the Force's will for him being on the mission. The Force seemed to have a sense of humor when it came to him it seemed lately. While Master Shim worked on her lightsaber, Lee put full focus on closing the casing. When it snapped together and sealed, Lee reached out with a hand and grasped it.*
*He opened his eyes and looked up, he then turned around to face Master Shim, though his focus was on his lightsaber. He flicked his wrist and activated the saber quickly, the deep silvery blade shot out as it activated and Lee swung it experimentally, but away from anyone else. Satisfied that it seemed in much better condition than before, he deactivated it and clipped it to his belt.*
*When Atton passed by and made his comment, Lee simply shrugged.*
Whatever works, right? Next time you're not piloting, I'll invite you to join us.
*Lee shot back with his own sarcastic comment, though not intending to provoke Atton but simply to play his own game. Lee follows Atton off the ship.*

*Mira spent most of the ride there on her own, in her usual spot on the Ebon Hawk, mostly meditating and ignoring people for the moment.*
*She walks out down to the exit, this time out of her Jedi robes and in the leather jacket and green halter top that made her famous, or at least, solidified her image. A good bounty hunter always had an image, and besides, it might be useful to be able to wield her reputation here on Nar Shaddaa. Unless some upstart claimed the position of "best bounty hunter in the system", in which case she needed to teach a few lessons anyway.*
"We're here? That's quick."
*She sees Atton and amends her statement as she walks out from the ramp onto mostly solid if not for the rusting platform.*
"Obviously because this ship is completely idiot proof."

*Kali spent the entirety of the mission in one of the dormitories meditating, trying to purge her frustration and anger. Maybe it was all this talk of the holocrons, maybe it was just Kavar. She thought she had put those feelings behind her, and she had. Kavar being gone had certainly helped her dull the pain and allowed her to forget. But with him (literally) being dropped into her life again... it must have brought up all the emotions she had kept buried for so long*
*After several hours in hyperspace Kali stirs as Atton calls out that they reached their destination. She gets up, changes into something less conspicuous than brown and tan Jedi robes, and clips her lightsaber to her belt. She felt no need to hide it. If anything it would only deter people from attacking her this time... though that didn't seem to stop the thugs last time she was here. She shrugs at the thought and walks out onto the Refugee landing pad*

*Master Shim and Ze enter the Ebon Hawk and head to the Engine Room. Once there Ze takes PK-1 off his shoulder and sets the tiny droid down on the ground beside him and kneels next to an access panel on one of the main sublight engines. Master Shim then asks him if he has ever heard of the Force. As he answers he pulls out several tools from his belt and opens the access panel*
"Only from the spacers that I've talked with here on Nar Shaddaa, and in passing with Mira and Atton. I asked them what it was like to be a Jedi. They said the Force was like an limitless power source, where you can hear the connections between people and things and if you concentrate you can do things with it. The spacers said it is what the Jedi use to create their fire breath and laser eyes. I'm not sure how accurate that is after meeting Mira and Atton though and hearing their perspective."
*Ze takes the datachip he has been holding in his hand, and inserts it into his own datapad. He brings up a long list of numbers and words in a tiny text, and then pulls out a small delicate instrument. He starts making very small, very precise engravings into a certain segment of sublight drive - glancing at the pad every few seconds. For most beings this task would be near impossible. Tien Tubb was skilled at it due to his ability to hear the tiniest of sounds, Ze on the other hand with his compound vision was able to see the microscopic details of every square millimeter*
"Pekay, can you give me a hand here. I'm having trouble with the twenty-seventh interflux figure. It needs to be encoded Shen, but the existing code reads Mern. See if you can burn off the lateral figure."
*The tiny droid standing on the ground walks over and peers into the compartment. He beeps an affirmation and extends his spindly hand into the compartment. The end of one his fingers heats up and the droid slowly burns away the existing figure. He then retracts his finger and steps away. Ze looks in and nods*
"Good work Pekay. Nearly done here."
*Ze reaches in again and continues his work*
"But if that is not what the Jedi do, Master Shim. What is it that they do do? There are so many conflicting stories of the Jedi. They seem more like a myth than anything else most of the time. One spacer said that the Jedi are nothing more than.. what were the words he used, "Egotistical self-deluded freaks imposing their will on others and plunging the galaxy into war." I remember a Jedi War being talked about when I was a hatchling, but you, Mira, and Atton don't seem to be like that at all."
*Ze pulls his hand out and closes the panel, then walks to the back wall of the engine room where the hyperdrive is located. He reaches back behind it and pulls off a plate cover, then leans down and starts connecting and reconnecting several power tubes. After he is done with that he replaces the cover and stands up, looking at Master Shim*
"I'm done back here. Now I need to make some adjustments in the communications room and cockpit."
|

Post by Tolaris Shim on Aug 4, 2009 18:39:41 GMT -5
*I listen to Ze, and say*
"Well...what Atton and Mira said is truer to the Force. I recall the words of Jedi Master Ood Bnar. 'The Force is our power and our ally. The Force has always been with us. That is its nature. It surrounds us. And penetrates. It binds the universe together. Those who become sensitive to its presence can learn how to use it… for good or evil.' We don't breath fire or have laser vision."
*I chuckled at that last part, hoping to lighten the air in the room.*
"The Jedi Order has been for many a year the Protectors of the Galaxy. Our enemies, that hold views different from us, search and seek to destroy us. They are known as the Sith. They use and twist the Force to their own desires, and often times hurt and kill others. The Jedi use the Force as a guide, and seek the 'Will of the Force.'"
*I take a moment before continuing, though Ze's finishing of his work back here, means that we have to head to a new spot. I lead the way to the communications room. Taking a seat in the room, I wait for more questions that might be on his mind, smiling as I wait.*

*Ze allows PK-1 to climb up his leg, and grab a hold of his belt like a small tach and then follows Master Shim to the Communication's Room, and immediately spots the terminal he needs to work on, on the far right side of the room. PK-1 hops off and Ze lays down on the deck plating and pulls himself under a computer console, opening a panel on the underside of it. He pulls out a different tool then what he was using before and starts making adjustments to the wiring, occasionally referencing the datapad*
"The Sith. Hmm. I have not heard as much about them as the Jedi, but the name is of course familiar. I was under the impression that they were an Empire opposed to the Republic. But they use the Force as well? Perhaps people simply see the Jedi and Sith as the same thing. Generalizations. That has been my experience outside of the Hive, that people generalize. In the Hive it is instantly clear who is who and individual differences are evident. But on other worlds, without the instantaneous communication and the sensations that come with being a member of a Hive community, beings seem to make judgments without experience - which is of course different than beliefs. For I had a belief that Jedi had fire breath and laser eyes based on my interactions up until today, but that wasn't necessarily a judgment... perhaps a preconception - which can be just as dangerous as judgments sometimes, no doubt, but regardless --
*T3-M4 suddenly rolls into the Communication Room, and sees Ze fiddling with an aspect of the ship, and goes haywire*
BEEEEEEEEEP!!!! BIZZZIIIIP!!! DWOOOOOOP!!!!!!!
*Ze, startled, breaks concentration and tries to look up but hits his head on the bulkhead above him, dropping the tool he was using*
"Ow!
*T3 rolls over to Ze, extends his shock arm, and his blaster pistol pops out of the top of his head, trained on Ze*
Beep boop BEEP!
*Ze rubs his skull. His chitin plates helped dull the pain from impacts, blasterbolts, and sword strikes, but not stupidity*
"Look little fella, your masters gave me permission to work on the ship. And I'm being supervised by Master Shim here. I promise, I'm not trying to tread on your territory or mess with any ship systems. I'm just changing out your ship's transponder code."
*T3 gives a short beep, clearly he is not convinced. The Ebon Hawk was his ship to repair, and had been for a very long time. He trusted very few people to work on it, regardless of what Kali might say*
Bweep!?
*Ze nods*
"I promise. Now, please, this is very delicate work. I will be happy to talk to you as soon as I'm done."
*T3 swivels his head and looks at Shim, then back at Ze, then to PK-1*
Dweoop boop?
*PK beeps a few times in response*
Biz-zip boop boop. Dweoop boop beeeep bee-deet?
*PK responds with a series of low beeps*
Dwooooo....... beep beep.
*T3 then rolls back away from the tiny droid and from Ze, and plugs into a computer terminal so that he can monitor Ze's progress*
*Ze climbs back under the bulkhead and starts working again. He says to Master Shim in a low voice*
"Temperamental little droid. How long since he's had maintenance done?"
*Ze remembers back to the last time he was startled by a hostile droid... less than an hour ago while he was with Mira and Atton at the docking pylons. He had instinctively put his hand up, though he had no idea why, and then a beam of energy shot out of his palm and into the droid - slowing it down. Ze pauses what he is doing, and looks at his hand where it happened. There didn't seem to be a burn mark, or any kind of sign that it had happened. He didn't understand it at all. All this talk about the Force made him wonder.... He finishes what he is doing, and slides out from under the bulkhead after closing up the panel. He sits up on the floor, and looks at his hand again. As he studies his hand in detail, using his compound eyes and poses a question to Master Shim*
"Master Shim... what kind of powers can the Jedi and Sith perform?"
|
|

*I watch, and listen to Ze. Nodding, I say*
"It is easy to generalize. Sith are similar to the Jedi due to the Force, though we are different in ways too."
*When T3-M4 comes in, I nod to what Ze says*
"T3...Kali has given permission to have the ship's codes changed."
*After T3 leaves, I listen to what Ze asks.*
"There are many abilities, some of which a Jedi or Sith can learn. Some are Universal in nature, some light-side and some dark-side. Those that opt to join the Jedi Order will learn abilities that are lightside and universal. I can specify further if you have any that you want me to go into detail further? There are many."
*I give a pleasant smile.*
