opening his eyes on the words blaster, he quickly closed them again after Deanna chided him.
".....okay...."
Risanith focused on the blaster she held in her hands. He found it, but didn't. It didn't shine, but it did shone. It was hard to explain.
"Okay, i found it."

Deanna nods her head. "Good, good. Now pick it up. Without your hands. Push against its essence in an upwardly fashion."
She hoped this explanation would be enough. This was her first time teaching the Force, especially on how to do anything with the Force. She hoped all those manifestoes she wrote to gather her own thoughts would help her in this, but somehow she had a feeling she'd just end up making him more confused.

".....okay...."
Grasping or at least thinking he was grasping the blaster with his mind, the muted but still visible blaster. It was visible, but yet not visible. The moment Risanith had closed his eyes, and opened his mind the thing that people here called 'force sight' activated. It made it really easy to seeing things that were living, but not non living things.
As he thought he brought the blaster up in the air, he thought he heard a distinct, but muffled boom, and then it became easier to make it rise.

And the fake prop blaster shattered. Great. She'd have to get a real blaster sometime soon anyway.
"I said up. Gently. Stop being so impatient! Take it as it comes. You cannot force it to move so much as convince it that it'd be much too inconvenient to remain in place. The Force is the negative space. Work around that. Flow. not push."

Opening one of his eyes a fraction to see what had happened he then closed them, "this one was unsure if he had actually grasped the blaster, it looks so much like the environment compared to living things. this one will pay for a new blaster, and is sorry he broke yours. You can borrow one of my personal blasters if you want.....flow...okay...this ione can do that"
Risanith then started to focus inwardly, trying to find the environment in the Force. When he had found it, at least he thought he found it, he said; "This one is ready now"

"Then what are you waiting for? Never hesitate! Listen when the Force is guiding you!"
She immediately understood the irony of telling him to be patient then telling him to never hesitate. She was beginning to see why the Masters at the Enclave were always so cryptic and contradictory.

Opening his, and letting them stay open, Risanith looked at Deanna, "this one is curious as to what you wish him to do." gesturing to the imploded but floating blaster "this one has made it go up, just made it slightly..smaller.....if you mean just do it again, I can do that" Risanith closed his eyes again.
Looking around for something to levitate, he focused on the tools that Deanna had used earlier for a demonstration. Finding them with the Force alone was a slight bit easier then the Blaster, there was still slight bit...of...residual Force imprints on them for lack of a better word. They shone a bit brighter in the Force then the rest of the environment did.
Reaching for the tools, a hydrospanner and a sonic screwdriver, he started to feel their auras. They shone less brightly then a living thing, but they still shone regardless. Wrapping a hold around them, gently he reminded himself, he started to enclose his mental, force projected grasp around them. Feeling that the Hydrospanner and the sonic screwdriver were firmly in his grasp, Risanith started to move them upwards. One centimeter at a time. Slowly but surely the tools moved progressively upward.
As the tools moved up, minutes passed in silence.
A another minute passed as Risanith concentrated on the tools, sending them upward from their spot on the table Deanna had set them on.
Another minute passed
Then a fourth minute passed.
Every millimeter was a war zone that had to be won to move the tools pass. Brute force wouldn't work in these battlefields, not that Risanith had expected it to work. When he had used brute force last time, he had imploded what he was focusing on. It was instead a game of seven layer chess, that seemed to have a different layer for every millimeter that Risanith was able to make the tools go up. Every piece that was taken was a success, a small jump upwards, victories filled him with elation as each one of them moved the tools up a centimeter. Ever piece he lost was a step downwards, every loss, nearly a centimeter of progress lost.
The seventh minute passed, and the progress was still bumpy, with short spurts where they either fell or jumped upwards.
The ninth minute occurred, as the tools kept on rising up. The pace became more steady and faster. Then a *clunk* sound happened followed by a clattering and cursing...or...what? Risanith was confused, it was like he had double vision, triple when he opened his eyes. He could see the objects, floating still, up towards the ceiling, admittedly at a slower speed since he wasn't fully concentrating but this was really weird, since he could see it in the same fashion as when he looked with what the people in this galaxy would call 'Force Sight'. While both of those sights showed the tools, and the imploded blaster floating where they were at the moment, or were at the moment, he could also see where they would be in a short time, short being a relative term. Had the clunk sound already happened, or had it yet to happen? Was the fact that he knew it could happen, caused it to happen, or had something else caused this to happen?
Turning towards Deanna to ask her if she saw this, he momentarily forgot control, the tools hit the ceiling with a *clunk* sound breaking his concentration. The tools started to slowly sink. The slow sinking devolved into plummeting downward. As they plummeted downward Risanith's triple vision evolved to quadruple vision, and then into eight different visions, then thirty. As he reached to grab the tools with both the Force and his actual hands the number jumped upwards. Almost in pain from all these different senses overloading him, he shut his eyes instinctively, in a muscle memory driven hope to end the conflicting sense. As his hand, or was it his mind? he couldn't tell at this point, closed around the sonic screwdriver on its eleventh hour, before he wouldn't of been able to stop its' fall, the number of conflicting visions dropped by seven nineteenths. In comparison to what he had just been sensing, it was like his vision was clear. Grabbing the other tool, the visions cut down to five and then ten and then seven, not settling on a number, what the Force told him was actually there, and what seemed to be visions of him opening his eyes, or dropping the tools, or the blaster, or something else, that was changing so fast he couldn't even comprehend what he was witnessing.
Opening his eyes, he saw he held the two tools. or were they still on the table where Deanna had left them? His vision was refusing to make sense. The blaster was spinning, in increasing rotations where he had last seen it. Or it was on the ceiling, pressed against the durasteel so hard it was embedded, but at the same time it was hovering over Deanna's outstretched palm, gently floating down. What in voidspace was going on?
Trying to shut it out, he let go of his hold of the blaster, gently he reminded himself..or had he already done that?. There was no resounding clank from it in all but one of his visions. The tools he let go of, as they clattered to the floor in half of his visions, ending most of the conflicting visions.
Falling to his knees, his hands shot towards his face in a vain attempt to end this, as if to further shut his eyes, even though he was only at two visions now, it had been information overload. Too much at one time, too much, TOO MUCH.

Deanna sees Ri collapsing and senses a great amount of confusion. A bit of confusion was expected, but what'd she do that made it this bad?
She kneels down to help him get his footing again. "Are you all right? What happened? I'm sorry! I'm such a bad teacher; I don't even know what I did! Anything I can do to help?"

Risanith recovers from the multitude of different streams of information he had been receiving.
It was normal now.
Quiet.
Peace.
Regaining his composure, he noticed that Deanna was kneeling next to him, saying something, and trying to do something.
Words caught up to him, in a slow but increasing speed, as if speed was returning to normal at once.
Now it was quiet again. The loudest sound was the humming of the engine of the Y-8 as it shot through hyperspace.
Letting Deanna help him up, almost he put most of his weight on his hand as he uses it to push off from the wall, he was slumped against.
Speaking fastly, he realized that he was speaking in Talortai'i, and she wouldn't understand it. Quickly switching over to basic, Risanith went on, "not, basic, sorry, this one...too much information...too much...so much....one time...saw..possibilities...of...possibilities....of possibilities. Not your fault. Do not blame yourself. A lot to process." he knew he wasn't making much sense, but he still was trying to get it all out at once.
Taking a pause for a few minutes, he then tried again, slowly this time, making sure to use pronunciation. "I may of opened too much of myself to the Force at once. I saw....things....."

"Visions? Enlightenment? The heat death of the universe? What'd you see? Don't worry, it'll be all right. The future is always in motion, and visions are things that the Force wants to warn us about, not things that will inevitably come to pass."
She doesn't really know what just happened. Sometimes sensing the Force for the first time was hard on people, but she still can't help but blame herself for that, and think that it had something to do with her being a terrible teacher.

"This one....this one saw all of the possibilities, or a lot of possibilities of what happened or could of happened when you taught me the trick. Maybe when this one started to see different possibilities, this one shouldn't of tried to view all of them and more. This one saw every single different possibility of the blaster going up or down along with the tools." spewed out a still slightly confused Risanith. The pain was no longer present, and that much was visible.

"That . . . yeah that's why I said patience. Or patience for getting it to work." She sighs. "I really don't know. I'm sorry, this is my first time teaching anyone anything, well, besides educating the populace on the atrocities of the Sith. Like their atrocious fashion sense."
She laughs a bit to herself, then stops when she realizes that it wasn't funny.

"This one could make it work, this one just...got lost in it for lack of a better word." Taking on a more thoughtful look, Risanith went on, "this one has had known teachers of what you call the 'force' before. The fact that we are not still talking about whether its okay or not to levitate that blaster, and more importantly we finished deciding this decade, probably means we are going to be getting a lot more done they they would ever have allowed me to do this side of the century. I don't think you are a bad teacher, just..."Risanith struggles for the word for several minutes,"...inexperienced in teaching, is the closest word this one can thinking of in your language. Anyways was the atrocious fashion sense...like....a slang word? Like the word you previously mentioned....what was it again? Aang? Tang? Lang? something like that."

She's beginning to anticipate having to explain slang constantly to this ki-birdman. She tries to think of this as aiding someone from another culture, as opposed to teaching a small child about the Nediji and the Killiks, but this doesn't make it any less awkward.
"An atrocious fashion sense is something that will prevent you from wanting to bang you. Committing straight up atrocities unfortunately, does not prevent nearly enough people from getting laid. Procreating. There are a lot of words for sex. I don't know how much sex the Sith have, but I'm pretty sure that most of it is psychologically unhealthy, just like the rest of their lives. It's kind of sad."
She sighs. "Maybe I should stop here. I know more about the Force than I do about sex since I haven't had any since . . ."
Ryan. She hasn't even had anyone to love since Ryan.
". . . The Force. Let's talk about the Force again. So what do you think, now that you've seen the Force? Seen like, a lot of it, in a little place. What do you think you need to do to keep that from happening again?"

Clearly, even to Risanith who couldn't read humans that well, Deanna didn't want to discuss slang or anything similar to procreation.
"This one has seen the Force before, or rather has seen with it before, but this one has never accessed it on a conscious level. That has been completely new."
Risanith paused for a moment to collect his thoughts, he had a ton of jumbled ideas on the matter.
Speaking slowly;
"I think that the Force is something that can not be quantified, but that was something I already thought of, or rather had heard of before, so that would mean I'm just regurgitating sayings. Hmm. Now that I have had some time to think about it I can actually describe what I saw. When I had started to raise the tools, the screwdriver and the hydrospanner, I had completely basically become entirely focused on that. This one opened myself as much as I could to the Force, and the opening continued as this one was able to raise the tools higher up. However something...odd happened. This one started to see things....differently. This is hard to explain."
Stopping for a moment to thing about how to explain what he saw, he went on;
"It was like I could see what happened if I dropped one of the tools, before I actually dropped the tools, or if I had been able to see if they went on further up, before I had actually moved them any farther in any particular direction. Like this one was seeing...possibilities for lack of a better word, I've been trying to think of the correct word for it for the last few minutes, or was it hours? when it started. I really don't know if there is a word for it in your basic. There are words that close to it in Talortai'i like 'możliwości'."
"This one doesn't honestly know if this one should keep that from happening, but there is some fault on this one for his part in it. This one loves information and tried to actually process it all, which is why my head is still ringing as of now. Maybe I need to figure out selective processing, and understand which ones possibilities to view. That or I have learn better parallel processing techniques. Or learn how to skim information instead of trying to get a in-depth understanding of each possibility."
"I may regret saying this, but I think I should of payed less attention to books and even less on command training, not that this one liked paying much attention to it, and more to the Starszy when they lectured about this sort of thing."
Looking at Deanna, "What do you think? You are the one with far more experience in the matters of accessing the Force on a conscious level."

"Well, those all sound like good ideas. And don't regret not listening to curmudgeons telling you what the Force should be. The important thing is finding out for yourself what it is."
She shakes her head. "I'm not entirely sure even what I can teach you. I've always been more of a self-learner myself. I don't so much regret the time I spent reading and reading and doing my own thing so much as I regret being so involved in that that I never listened to the galaxy itself, that I never paid attention to what was happening until it was far too late."
She picks up the tool with the Force and smoothly brings it into her hand. "You can only find true knowledge in yourself. But others can light the path. Or darken it, sometimes. I'll try not to do the latter."

Risanith paused for a moment before responding, "This one thinks you can teach a lot, and that you have a lot of experience, just from going out and experiencing things. More importantly you tried to change what you are doing, to make yourself into a better...." he had trouble finding a word, not because of language difficulties, but because he honestly didn't know what Deanna was at this point, "....Force user person, this one doesn't even know what you technically are now."
"The pursuit of knowledge is a very important and honourable pursuit, especially true knowledge. It is a path that, I," putting emphasis on the I, "took up, in lieu of what I was suppose to be. I decided to be a scholar instead of starting out in the Fleet as a Commander, with a ship that is (word in Talortai'i) long..roughly 3,700 of your meters."
"I had been groomed for it by my father but instead I decided to take up the pursuit of knowledge. This led me down the path that I am currently on and am the reason I stand before you."
"Not most though, at least among my people, try and make a difference, its the fact that you are actually trying that means you are someone who can teach others."

Deanna smiles. "The pursuit of knowledge is, indeed, an honorable one. As is the pursuit of change, at least, I hope. I guess I could understand why a race that lives as long as yours would give up after a while. Nothing ever changes." She sighs. "Well, I hope I'll be able to live up to your confidence in me."
She telekentically moves the tool over to the other side of the room.
"You ready for one more shot, this time with patience? Knowing what you know now? Not trying to see everything at once?"

"Yes this one is ready", stated a determined Risanith. He was going to do it this time.
Reaching out with his hands, using them to aid his mind, as his mind gripped the tools, not too lightly, not too tightly.
After several moments of making sure that he had a grip on it. He centered himself. No more information overload for him, he thought. The moment he started to lift the sonic screwdriver, the visions came, endless in their streams. However this time, instead of doing his first instinct, that being to try and understand all of them, Risanith, selectively chose what he was viewing, purposely only paying attention to the ones that involved very VERY painful danger to him or Deanna or his ship.
After a handful of seconds, it lifted up, much to Risanith's glee. The sonic screwdriver hovered in mid-air suspended by the power of his mind.
Success!

Deanna claps when he succeeds. "Yay! Y'did it! Now try gently moving it, pushing it against the air. Close your eyes if that makes it easier. Careful! Careful!"
She knows that the first time she tried that, she ended up throwing a rock at her grandfather's head. He didn't seem to be as frustrated as little Deanna, so maybe she wouldn't get a screwdriver in her head. But she got ready to duck anyway.

Concentrating on the floating screw driver, he started to move it with his mind. However this caused the number of visions of him accidently maiming or even killing Deanna to multiple. Immediately he stopped moveing it.
Focusing further on the screwdriver he then moved it slowly to the left. However at first it barely moved, so Risanith add a little more push to it.
It moved alright. Luckily though it did stop moving, ending up seven meters away from where he had intended it to move. But no one had died.
Out loud Risanith exclaimed: "This one moved it with out removing all our fur!"

Deanna claps again. It looks like she won't have to be like Kavar and encourage him with pints. Especially considering that she left all the Corellian ale on the other ship, which was probably on fire. Probably extra on fire, being extra flammable and all.
"You've taken the first step into a larger world. Practice this enough and you'll never have to get off your ass and pick stuff up again! Then you can spend the rest of your days siting around, getting fat and lazy until they can't tell you from a Hutt! A Hutt with a beak!"
She laughs at her own joke. It's not really funny, but he seemed like the type to need social cues for when she was joking.
"Eventually you won't need an object to focus on. The air itself is an object to be manipulated, and the Force is in every lungful. But that's harder to perceive and harder to against itself. Figure out the basics first. That's always what it comes down to."
|

Risanith thought for a moment.
"This one is confused, you said that I won't need an object if I become good enough and then went on about how the air is an object. That seems almost counter productive. "
Silenced filled the large room.
"So...this one is curious as to if this one may put down the sonic screwdriver yet" he said gesturing with his free hand towards the floating tool.

Deanna shrugs. "Sure, keep it up, drop it, do whatever you want with it, I won't stop you. Unless it's like, stabbing me in the chest or something, then I'd have to object. I like my chest unstabbed."
Of course she confused him. She often confused herself. So she tried to explain. "The Force is really contradictory. Air's an object, but it's easier to focus on the solids that displace it. I was just giving you a shortcut that took me a while to figure out on my own."
She shakes her head and seems to suddenly remember something. "Oh, does this thing have any good encryption on its holocomm system? I needa call someone."
|
|
|
Post by Risanith Fenn on Jul 18, 2012 12:02:46 GMT -5
"Okay then."
Risanith then took on a puzzled look, encryption? What in the voids was that? Was it something involving communications? If it was linked to the holocomm, maybe it was just a plugin. Risanith had not bought any plugins, mostly because none were offered when he bought it. Although the people I bought this from said that this ship was fully equipped, so maybe the encryption is already there?
"Does encryption normally come on a Y-8 Mining Vessel? This one has not modified it's communication set up at all."
