How to do Stuff on Proboards
-Formatting Text-
Images
To insert an image just put into the post. So, produces:
If the image is on your computer then you can use an image hosting site like Photobucket.
Links
/
To add a hyperlink just place the code name and you can place any text you wish to be hyperlinked between the code.
You can also use [link=URL]name[/link] to make the link open in the current tab ( defaults to a new tab).
Linked Images
Now this is a combination of the two above ones. To make a picture a hyperlink you do this:
That comes out like this:
You may find that you want to link to a specific post. In that case just copy the link in "Link to Post" in the bottom right corner of the post, near where it says "Logged".
Colours
It is very very easy to change the colour of a piece of text, just place in the code then finish the tag so your text will go like this if you put in 'green'. See the next post in this thread for a list of colours.
Moving text
/
You can also move text by simply placing in the code
[move] then typing what you want to move...and finishing the tag [/move].
Alignment
There are also options to change the alignment of the text. The left align is pointless because it does that by default if you don't put any tags like this.

On the LEFT.
On the RIGHT.
In the CENTER.
Font Size
/
Font size can also be changed then # becomes a number varying from 1 to about 7 and finishing the tag
size 1
size 2
size 3
size 4
size 5
size 6
size 7
Font Style
Of course you can also change the font style (or face). Just put in <Text you want in this font>
These are the main fonts available. Usually you can put the name of any font in the tag and it should work although don't be surprised if it doesn't. Bear in mind that it may work for you but not for others who might not have the same font installed.

Symbols
You might need to use some of these in your posts, if you want. Here is a handy reference list of symbols you can type the XML code for. The XML code is "&code;", where code is as given below.
For accents, use the lowercase letter you want to apply an accent to, ergo, a/e/i/o/u.
For the type of accent, use acute/grave/circ/uml for acute, grave, circumflex and umlaut (aka diaeresis) respectively.
So for î, you would use î.
For currency, putting "pound, euro, cent" in the code will produce the appropriate symbol.
Other symbols are: "copy" for ©, "mdash" for —, "larr/rarr" for ←/→, "hearts" for ♥, "sup1/sup2/sup3" for ¹/²/³ and "laquo/raquo" for «/».
Strikethrough
There are also tags for strikethrough which crosses stuff out and this can be done simply by putting the [s] then closing the tag as normal [/s] todo this.
Bold, Italic and Underline (BIU)
You can do the basic bolds, italics and underlines, by putting the appropriate tag around the text like so:
Bold
Italic
Underline
Supercript and Subscript
/ — /
You also have superscript and subscript with the normal tags so that you get: [sup]blarg[/sup] and [sub]blarg[/sub].
Lines
To put in a line going across the page then simply insert
where you want the line. Simple as that and does this:
To have a line that goes all the way, use our custom tag of ________________________________________________________________________________ to do this:

Youtube videos
If you really must, just put in your post and something like this happens...
Tables
Tables in UBBC and HTML (the former used when posting) are nasty. This should explain them a bit.
You start and end the whole lot with the

tags.
Start first with the rows by putting
for start of the row.
The put the columns in with .
That makes a cell, but you have to finish the column with .
You can put in as many times as you want in a single row.
When you have put all the columns you want in a row you then end the row with
Then repeat the process of
> (multiple times) >
until you have made your table.
An example is:
The code for that was this:

1st row, 1st column1st row, 2nd column

2nd row, 1st column2nd row, 2nd column

You can then put whatever you want into the cells, including the standard UBBC tags.

Finally, you'll notice that I've got the formatting put in so that it doesn't work eg:
This is done by putting [noubbc]<stuff you don't want formatted>
[/noubbc] around what you don't want formatted.Font Size
