::Wait, are you being overheard? Nevermind. Don't answer. I'll meet you on Coruscant in a week. I'll send you the co-ordinates.::
*Cabur's helmet recieves an image of a map of Coruscant with a lower-level building marked on it.*
::See you there, ner vod.::

*Cabur looks toward the cage and then back towards Cassus*
"It will be hard to believe me but all I was looking for was aliit. Before you cage me, perhaps you should have this back, it's Bralors."
*Cabur hands across a credit chip*
"I took it from Triosh, there is a lot more information on my data pad regarding transactions, deals and the exchange. I sliced what I could and transferred the funds. There is over 50million credits on that. If I had more time I'd see what else I could dig up. I'm still working on decrypting more about this serenity."
"Sometimes missions can go to osik. And sometimes we don't bring good men back. Today I feel I've lost a good friend in Korja and I hope I can help Bralor and Wasuur if I can"
*Cabur takes off his buy'ce before turning and walking towards the cage, not really looking to get another beating*
"By the way, Korja is trying to contact me. He's headed for Corusant"

*Cassus takes the credit chip. For a traitor, he sure as hell wasn't acting like one. Maybe there was more to this then what he could see right now. As heavily as the evidence was stacked against him, Cassus simply 'felt' that Cabur was sincere. Cassus thinks about the situation with Korja for a moment before responding*
Then you tell your friend that you'll meet him on Coruscant. Play along to his every word, get as much out of him as you can. And when this is all over, we'll all have a nice little chat with Korja. If you're looking for aliit, then this is how you'll find it. I have no love for a mando'ad that shoots a vod in the back. Korja's dar'manda as far as I'm concerned. And you're treading awfully close yourself by associating with scum like him.
*Cassus doesn't force Cabur into the cage, but rather just walks away, back to the cockpit*
And don't think for a second that I'm not watching you, kid.

*Cassus gets back to the cockpit, checks their flight pattern, everything looks alright. He decides to go back and check on Bralor and Wasuur. He finds Caius tending to them both.*
How's it lookin' kid?

*Caius looks up. I have been attending the patients, spending most of my time on Wasuur. In the meantime, my portable NMR has finished analyzing the compounds. I explain the situation to Caius, my helmet long been off before the flight began.*
You're not going to like this, but good news first.
Bralor is stable, for now...only because the guy is half frozen in stasis. He'll be fine for a brief time, but if he ever wants to do...well anything...again. He's going to need that treatment.
*I look over at the Field Marshall, half studying-half admiring him.*
The guy's a piece of work. He's breathing and his heart is still beating. Those are both good signs and I had nothing to do with either. A real tank.
*I pause for a second, other things on my mind as I look over Bralor. Turning back to Wasuur, my tone changes.*
Wasuur is a different story. The good news, again, is I've isolated the compounds in Vayner's toxin. One is simple spice...the other is some sort of plant secretion or extract. I dont know from what, the machine couldn't identify it. The problem is...we know from Vayner's research it is toxic, but its not in its natural state. Its metabolites are the actual toxins...which means that I don't know how to cure her unless Cabur finds what the actual by products are or I do a bunch of experiments. I need living things for that...and I don't see anyone volunteering here.
Basically, her nerves are slowly...well...failing. She's becoming a vegetable.
*I show Cassus a readout of Wasuur's neural activity, along with a projection of its further decrease.*
You can she she is here now.
*I point to a area of steep decline on the graph.*
Basically, its been a few hours now and per Vayner's notes shes somewhere between short term memory loss and paralysis. Her mental activity is decreasing and her reflex time increasing. I can keep her alive, but her lungs and heart could start failing at anytime. I have no guarantee that she will ever walk...or move...again and she may already be showing signs of moderate retardation. Like Bralor, I have no idea what she's going to be like if we can treat her, but he has a single wound. What this toxin is doing is like stripping the wiring from a building full of circuits...there is no way to rewire it like before. If we can even do it at all.
*Caius pauses for a moment, sighing gently out of helplessness.*
I think we need to end it, now, for her.
*I look up at Cassus.*

*Cassus looks down at the kid he met only a couple days ago*
You're suggesting we kill her? Absolutely not! Not while we're so close to getting her help. They might have something... they might be able to...
*Cassus tries to come up with something, but he knows that there is such a small possibility of success for her. He looks away at the cockpit then looks back to Caius*
Is she in pain right now?

*I look concerned, periodically glancing at Wasuur as I talk*
No. She's unconscious. BUt she's suffering increasingly large seisures as her body is essentally...de-neuralated. Shes' developing apnea and I'd imagine that her heart will soon start cutting in and out. Regardless, her personality and any sort of higher function is being, if it hasn't already been, erased.
*I pause*
Look. I know this isn't an easy decision. Its easy to grow new people. Its easy to fix small points of damage. It is NOT easy to build them from scratch...which is what we'd be doing. I dont think it can be done. Its better to end it now...have her vode take her life as opposed to letting her be violated like she is now.
*Wasuur breaks into a siezure and I go to her side, pumping another round of sedatives into her body. She calms down and begins to reast easily again. After making sure she is stable, I walk away.*
If I giver her much more of that, its going to kill her anyway. She's already had three...

*I look up with a lessened sense of disdain more a sense of acceptance when Cassus enters to check on the flight pattern. I check the navcom myself and it puts us as being close to Onderon on the Perlemian, about nine-tenths of the way from Nar Shaddaa to Arkania. I call back as loud as I care.*
"We'll be arriving in about 30 minutes."

*I appear as if from nowhere, and I walk to the back of the ship and look at Bralor's frozen form, and then over to Wassur. I feel a pang of sadness as I look at the sunny young girl, now on the ground and reduced to helpless twitching. Eff buzzes around me.*
"I know, Eff. It's sad."

*An encrypted and private communique from Arligan opens with Cassus*
::Buir, I've been unable to take out the traitor. He's hunkered down in a warehouse and I have no shot. Have withdrown outside the warehouse. Requesting further orders::

*Cassus doesn't receive Arligan's message due to the fact that they are half a galaxy away from each other at the moment*
*Cassus looks down at Wasuur, and then back to Caius. He hears Kathaesis' call for 30 minutes*
Thirty minutes, kid....
*Cassus looks down at Wasuur. The hardest thing he had ever had to do was give the order to obliterate the Mandalorian forces on Jebble during the War. They had become Rakghouls, mindless poisonous creatures with no sense of aliit or honor. Now he was faced with killing a vod or letting her be ravaged by a disease that was just as bad as the Rakghoul plague*
So karking close.... But it wouldn't make a difference would it?
*Cassus pauses another moment. Aliit meant everything to him, but sometimes what seemed to go against it was actually what was best. Cassus slips off his helmet and holds it to the side, looking down at Wasuur with his grizzled and worn face. He looks over at Caius*
Go ahead, kid. Let her be at peace.

Yessir.
*Caius says unenthusiastically*
*I head over to my kit and pull out a bright red syringe. I uncap it and inject it into Wasuur's IV. The fuild rapidly turns a bright red, an easy visual warning sign of what material. The fluid continues to drain, the red liquid finally reaching her veins. I disconnect al the monitoring equipment on her and put it away. When I'm done I kneel by her side, holding her clammy hand in mine.*
Ni su'cuyi, gar kyr'adyc, ni partayli, gar darasuum. Wasuur.
*I wait for several minutes, kneeling in silence next to her body and just being there, keeping track of her pulse on her wrist. The steady beat grows irregular and dull, finally stopping.*
*Finally positive she has passed, I pull a sheet off the bed Bralor is on and use it to cover Wasuur. I stand up, not very happy with the day's events.*
What do we want to do with her body?

Post by Cassus Fett on Jun 19, 2009 22:25:11 GMT -5
*Cassus looks up after Caius pulls the sheet over her. He slips his helmet back on*
It's just an empty shell now.
*Cassus bends over and pushes aside the sheet at Wasuur's side, he removes part of her gauntlet and puts it in a pouch on his belt*
She'll be remembered. We'll send her shell out into space when we arrive at Arkania.
*Cassus turns and walks into the cockpit to make sure Kathaesis doesn't try anything when they drop out of hyperspace*

*Approximately 5 minutes after Cassus returns to the cockpit the navcom beeps rapidly for a few seconds to indicate that the hyperdrive is preparing to disengage.*
"You'd better hope that Adascapolis hasn't added more security since old Arkoh disappeared."
*After my quick comment I reach forwards and disengage the hyperdrive with a momentary rumble and lurch of the ship. Being that we have come from the direction of Taris and Onderon, we are the opposite side of the planet to the Republic ships and the fleeing Sith vessel. I pilot the ship down to Adascapolis.*

*I wake up as we disengage form hyperspace. I quickly rise up out of my chair and move Wasuur into the airlock. Sealing the second bulkhead, I release her as we descend into the planet's atmosphere. The vacuum sucks her white wrapped corpse into the upper atmosphere of Arkania. The body accelerates away from the ship, igniting and streaking through the atmosphere until it incinerates into a whisp of smoke. I leave the small viewport from which I watched Wasuur's "burial" and walk back to Bralor.*
*I hop on my com.*
Does someone want to help me carry this tank out?

(from Adascopolis thread) *I pilot the ship down to a platform as close to the main building in Adascapolis as I can, ignoring the calls from the radio saying something about reservations and landing clearance, landing it in a small plaza in front of the building.* "This is the closest you can get. Be quick, I intend not to meet the Adascopolis security." ::Or wait for you once you've all gotten off.::

*Cassus notices that John is helping Caius with Bralor, so he starts walking around the rest of the ship, gathering everyone up*
Okay, let's move. We gotta get Bralor some help.
*Cassus walks over to Kathaesis, pulls out a blue 200 credit chip from a pouch on his belt, and tosses it to her*
In token of our appreciation. Just don't let me catch you shooting at me again, girlie.
*Cassus turns back around and helps Caius and John get Bralor's heavy body to the cargo hatch*

*After getting Bralor out of the ship, Caius sprints back in to grab is pack. I pick it up and slings it on my back. As he rushes back out, I pause as I pass Kathaesis, turning to her. Looking through my helmet, I mutter quickly.*
Thanks.
*I sprint back out of the ship.*

*As my first prolonged encounter with Mandalorians ends, I catch the credit chip from the silver armoured one. I can't help but wonder how they are justified in forcing me to go halfway across the galaxy after shooting in one's general direction for nearly killing me in an explosion simply by a 200 cred chip. I watch Cassus leave with the others with their fallen comrade. As the one in white armour mutters his thanks I give a little laugh to myself. That one seemed to be the medic and never threatened as much as Cassus.
Once they have all gotten off the ship I quickly lift off again before the Adasca Security reach my ship. As the ship clears the tower I count only four Mandalorians with a near-dead one and a sixth one running after them. The airlock was opened during the descent so I assume the seventh took the scenic route.
Business on Arkania done, I head up into orbit and engage the hyperdrive for the trip back to Nar Shaddaa.*

*The ship reaches Nar Shaddaa and exits hyperspace. I am piloting it down to the Docks when I recieve a message from somewhere in the Refugee Sector. I accept it and a blank holo is projected but I recognise a Quarren accent speaking.*
::I offer you the chance of a lifetime with downsizing employment in our Tatooine branch. I'd like to discuss the ensuing opportunities of this deal in person. So, I invite you to my bar, the Jekk'Jekk Tarr.::
*A Quarren in the Refugee Sector? It has to be Visquis. I look surprised and then angry.*
"Visquis? How the kark did you get this!?"
*I think for a moment. He must have captured the Outpost lot, I hadn't heard from them at all which was unusual. There was no other way he could have gotten hold of the Ashen Light's ID so easily. My initial reaction is to refuse, Girilon didn't want me to work with Visquis. But do I want to? Girilon is a delusional Hutt slug, why take on Visquis when you can let him take you aboard with him? This is my chance at last to get rid of Girilon.*
"It doesn't matter, I'm in. Girilon is an idiot to work against you. I'll meet you at your Bar."
*I end the transmission. This decision has just opened up the Exchange to me to take my place next to Visquis. Maybe I can even break off from him and do what I have always wanted to return to. Bounty hunting. Visquis must have some bounties I can take on. But first to get rid of Girilon. I land in my berth on Pylon 2 and shut down the ship. I head down the entry ramp, securing the ship behind me before heading out to the Jekk Jekk Tarr.*

*Having found Girilon's men waiting by my ship scrapping with some mercenaries or some such I quickly get aboard. The hatch locks and seals behind me as I run through the cargo bay and my room to the cockpit. I fire up the engines and take off from the pylon. I set the navcom to start programming for Tatooine whilst the ship enters orbit. Once all is clear, I throw the lever forwards and the stars streak into the blue swirl of hyperspace.*
