The Grand Ballroom of the Royal Palace is an extremely large and grandiose room used to entertain dignitaries and representatives of other worlds or governments. Mirrors line the walls and the massive white arches supporting the ceiling is said to be the most exquisite representation of Aldera architecture on the planet.

*Senator Kale Antilles along with a small contingent of Aldera soldiers rush through the Grand Ballroom trying to make it too the West exit before the Sith completely overwhelm the Palace. They had breached the Palace Grounds and had now begun a systematic take-over of the interior of the Palace. If he didn't make it out, the rebellion against the Sith may never get off the ground.*
"Hurry! They're coming this way!"
*The Aldera Soldiers with Senator Antilles quicken their pace*

*As Senator Antilles and the few Aldera Soldiers make their way across the Grand Ballroom, a squad of Sith Troopers flood in from the exterior doors and block their exit. They aim their weapons at the Senator*
"Drop your weapons and surrender!"
*From behind the Sith Troopers appears a black-robbed figure, with fiery red hair, wielding a violet lightsaber. She takes up a position directly behind the Troopers but says nothing*

*Senator Kale Antilles and the Aldera Soldiers stop in mid run as the Sith Troopers swarm around them. The Soldiers create a circle around the Senator to protect him and keep their blasters fixed on the Sith Troopers. Kale notes the obvious Sith or Dark Jedi in the back and speaks to her*
"We would rather die free than be enslaved by the likes of you, Sith!"

*The lead Sith Trooper laughs*
"If that's how you want to play it, so be it. Troops, open fire."
*The Sith Troopers take aim, but before they can shoot the violet lightsaber from the supposed Sith plunges through the back of the Sith Lieutenant. The other Sith Troopers turn as they hear the hissing sound of lightsaber plunging through flesh and armor and stare off in shock. The black-robbed figure raises her hand and sends a powerful Force Wave at the collection of Sith Troopers to her left, then lunges at the few to her right, slashing down with her violet blade. She makes quick work of the few stunned Troopers, just long enough to Force Jump over to the first group she had toppled over. She quickly stabs and slices them before they have a chance to react or call for backup. After she impales the final Trooper she stands straight and deactivates her lightsaber. She walks up to the Senator and nods*
"There's not much time, the rest of the Sith will be here shortly. You must escape while you still can, Senator."

*The Aldera Soldiers and Senator Antilles look on in shock as the Sith leading the Troopers turns on her own men and slaughters them. As she approaches the Aldera Soldiers keep their weapons trained on her. Kale is almost too stunned to speak. This was perhaps the most unusual and unlikely turn of events he had ever experienced. A Sith turning on her own? Impossible*
"Who are you?"

*She raises a single eyebrow. Who was she? She was Vima Sunrider, daughter of Grand Master Nomi Sunrider, and Jedi Master. But the Sith didn't know that. The Sith knew her as Darth Varati, and as Lashowe before that. She had been working from within the Sith ranks for many years now. In that time she had earned the trust of many within the Empire, and had created a name for herself. But for now, the explanation would have to wait.*
"A friend. We don't have time for stories, Senator. Now listen; the Sith have troops guarding the South and East exits. I've disabled the patrol droids in the western quad, you should be able to make it to the West gate and get into the city. Airways are all shut down, your best bet is to use the ancient tunnel system beneath the city."

*Kale stands there in awe. He still hadn't quite gotten over the fact that this Sith... or this supposed Sith, had just killed her entire squad of Sith Troopers. Regardless, she was actively helping him and his men, and for that he was forever grateful*
"I understand. I cannot tell you how thankful I am for this."
*Kale motions for his Soldier escorts to move along. They do so, but hesitantly*

"Then don't bother trying, just get out of here."
*She waves Senator Antilles out*
"Now hurry. The others will be here soon. Don't worry about the bodies. I'll just blame it on a Jedi or something."

"A plan that is not far from the truth. Again, my thanks."
*With that, Kale and the Aldera soldiers rush out of the Ballroom for the West exit. Once through the western quad of the Royal Gardens they head into the city and down into the ancient tunnels beneath Aldera*

*Vima makes sure that the Senator is away, she then calls one of the Sith Trooper's blaster to her hand with the Force and takes aim at the few Troopers that had been killed by the trauma caused the the Force Wave. She shoots each of them in the armor, making it appear as if there was a firefight. She also puts several blaster marks in the marble floor and a few on the walls. She then cringes as she aims the blaster at her own leg and fires. She roars in pain*
"Son of a murglak!"
*Vima drops the weapon and then kicks it away from her, as she limps across the Ballroom. She dulls the pain with a subtle application of Force Heal. It may not have been the smartest thing to shoot herself, but it was very necessary. She had to have a very good reason as to why she did not pursue the Soldiers and the fictitious Jedi - and she wasn't about to slice herself open with her own blade. At least now she had a reason, and not just an excuse. This hadn't been the first time she had intentionally inflicted harm on herself in order to maintain her guise as a Sith Lord, nor would it be the last she suspects. But she did what she had to do. The Order was counting on her*

*Exar Kun strides into the Grand Ballroom, with a sea of Sith Troopers flooding in behind him. He has his double-bladed blue lightsaber lit and he is surveying the grizzly scene around him. He immediately notices one of his many Dark Jedi he had sent into the city, limping across the Ballroom amidst the Sith corpses*
"Varati, what happened here?"

*Vima stands as straight as she can with her injury as Exar Kun walks into the Ballroom. She had anticipated more Sith, but not the Dark Lord himself. Though she should have expected it due to him leading the attack on the Palace*
"My Lord."
*She kneels to the floor in respect*
"My squad was ambushed by a large group of Aldera Militia and a Jedi, My Lord. I was injured in the initial attack, but managed to severely wound the Jedi before they escaped."

*Kun glances around, noting the many scorch marks from blaster fire, and the scattered Sith Troopers. This was obviously done by someone with a large command of the Force and obvious skill with a blade*
"I see. This Jedi... what did he look like?"

*Vima does not pause, she had rehearsed this entire probability in her head many times. Be prepared for anything and everything and you won't even have to think about what you're doing, it will all come naturally*
"She, my Lord. A rutian Twi'lek. Brown Jedi robes, blue lightsaber and an arrogant smug smile to top it all off. But I doubt she'll survive much longer, I gave the whore a few extra holes. They practically had to drag her body out of here."

*Kun stares at Darth Varati, he knows of her by reputation though his direct interactions with her were few and far between. He had assumed that whatever Jedi had done this would have been one of the Jedi he had encountered in the city - but now Varati described a Jedi that matched none of their descriptions. Strange that there would be more Jedi on the planet*
"I see...."
*Just then a Sith officer in a black uniform walks quickly up to Exar Kun. It is obvious that he had been running prior to entering the Ballroom*
"My Lord, we have just secured the hangar. Sensor data indicates that two Republic shuttles landed in the hangar and then evacuated a number of people. Security footage shows the Jedi boarding one of the shuttles."
*Kun turns to the officer*
"They escaped!?"
*He reaches out with his hand and grips the man by the neck*
"Ye... yesss, my Lord."
*Kun snaps the officer's neck with twist of his grip and throws the limp body aside. He turns back to Varati*
"There is a saying that says, 'don't kill the messenger.' And yet it is gratifying in it's own small way, isn't it?"

*Would her lie work? She had fooled many a Sith Lord in her time within the Sith, but never had she stood before the Dark Lord himself and blatantly lied. Would he sense her deception, or just punish her for her failure in stopping the supposed Twi'lek Jedi. But as fate would have it, his attention is shifted to the news that other more 'important' Jedi escaped from the Hangar. That suited her just fine. She nods her head once in amused agreement at Kun's mostly rhetorical question. She gives a small smirk at the Sith Officer's corpse*
"I always find pleasure in it, my Lord. Do you wish for me to pursue the Twi'lek Jedi and grant her a similar fate?"

*Kun pauses, his eyes locked on Varati for a moment longer than what would normally be considered comfortable*
"I thought you said she wouldn't survive?"
*Kun waves his hand dismissively*
"But it doesn't matter, she is of no concern to us. Let her hide in the gutter. I have more important things for you to do."
*Kun turns and begins walking toward the exit of the large ballroom. He motions for Varati to accompany him*
"I must return to Korriban. You will command the Sith forces here on Alderaan in my absence. Alderaan is of strategic importance to our fleet, the surface however is inconsequential. Do whatever you deem necessary to keep the local populous in line. You can burn the city to the ground for all I care."
*Kun looks at Varati, giving her the clear impression she was not to accompany him any further. He glances at the blaster wound to her leg momentarily*
"Do not fail me like the governor on Naboo did. You have proved yourself capable, but not indispensable."
*With nothing further to say, Exar Kun turns sharply and exits the ballroom leaving Varati to think on his final words of warning*

*Vima's heart skips a beat, as Kun calls her out on her subtle mistake. But really, it wasn't so much a mistake as it was stereotypical Sith boasting. Most Sith would have claimed to have dealt a fleeing Jedi a fatal blow even it wasn't entirely true. Fortunately her fictitious Jedi was of little concern to the Dark Lord. Vima nods and follows Kun as he motions for her to join him. She limps alongside him, just to his right - as the self-inflicted blaster wound still was considerably painful. Vima is legitmately surprised by Kun's command that she take over the Sith Force on Alderaan. It was unexpected, and would make her job considerably more difficult. One one hand, she could directly pull back the Sith's attacks on the city, but not without bringing about considerable scrutiny. But she nearly shudders when Kun mentions burning the entire city to the ground - he truly was the ruthless murderer the holonet made him out to be. At his final warning she bows to the Dark Lord*
"Of course not, my Lord. I will do everything that is required to protect your interests here."
*With that, Exar Kun leaves. She waits a moment until he is completely gone and then lets out a sigh of relief. That could have gone a lot worse. Vima uses yet another subtle application of Force Heal to dull the pain in her leg and mend some of the more serious damage. She did not dare use more light side powers, as they may be detected by the many Sith throughout Aldera. Though Kun was gone, she knew that Freedon Nadd was still present - as were several of the Order's more promising students. Being that she was now in charge of the Sith on Alderaan, she figures that the first step was to solidify her position within the ranks. She immediately heads for the throne room, in order to make it her own*

*Sometime later after Darth Varati has left, a duros comes into the Grand Ballroom and clears out all the dead bodies as he promised a certain Jedi he would do years ago on another planet entirely.*
