The Firefly is Mikal Ovidius's heavily modified firefly mid-bulk transport ship. He originally acquired it during the two years he spent in Coronet, and augmented its systems while he worked for CORSEC. The firefly is equipped with two VTOL engines on both the sides and an Avatar-10 hyperdrive. Modifications include a multi-vector assault mode comprised of quad laser turrets on the front, sides, and back, integrated composite beam banks, and two plasma torpedo launchers, as well as stealth technology that includes a cloaking device. However because these modifications require a great deal of power and firefly transports weren't originally designed for heavy modifications, the Firefly tends to have frequent electronics problems.

3939 BBY
Mikal is on the bridge of the Firefly on one of the computers searching one of the databanks. He is more or less relaxed as he has his feet up on one of the consoles and drinking some tea. He finally sits up when he realized that it has been nearly a year since he rescued Ci'el from Morn's complex. Since then, they have been flying through space dodging both Republic and Sith ships while trying to look for other enlightened force users, allies, and friends in hopes of re-establishing a collective, at least on the firefly if nowhere else. Mikal sits up and hits one of the computer panels.
"Computer.. whats the date?" ::8.2351, 3939 BBY:: "Its only been a year.. It certainly seems like longer.." He pauses for a minute before recording again.
"Computer start log." The Computer beeps, and Mikal again pauses.
"I suppose I should keep a record of what happened one year ago. The problem is I don't even know where to begin.. Well, we're on our way to the supposed coordinates of Ci'els ship.. She had left it before she was captured. I certainly hope it fits in the cargo bay. I suppose it would be good to have another ship nearby in any case.."
Mikal thinks for another minute before continuing.
"I suppose this began when I first brought Ci'el on board a year ago. She was in pretty bad shape.. "
----FLASHBACK---- One Year Earlier..
Mikal engages the hyperdrive which gives off a blinding flash of light while it speeds forward into hyperspace. He finally feels at ease being off Corellia, and also due to the fact he is no longer alone. He looks back at Ci'el, still unconscious in the chair behind him wrapped in one of his blankets that he used to use for cold nights that he stayed up working. Not even knowing where to go, he puts the computer on autopilot heading for the outer rim. He gets up and pick's Ci'el up, then goes into the medical bay. He lays her down on one of the beds and takes her vital signs. The readings show a massive amount of chemicals in her blood stream, most likely from when Morn injected her with synthetic nutrients to prevent her from starving to death.
"Well.. You're alive.. But suffering from malnutrition and severe dehydration. If we don't get all of these chemicals out of your system, it'll cause some serious problems."
He looks down at her again. There's no doubt about it, this young Twi'lek is the source of the force bond that he felt back on Corellia. He still has serious doubts about her, but in his heart he knows exactly who she is. But due mainly to his prolonged isolation he is unsure how to react or feel.
"I.. guess the best thing to do is just to flush it out. You'll have to forgive me.. Healthcare isn't exactly my best area of expertise."
He pulls out one of the stations, and activates the water source. He mixes it with a series of nutritional supplements, then injects Ci'el's arm with a micro-syringe and connects it to the water, allowing it to slowly pass into her bloodstream. He then injects a second micro-syringe on the same arm, which connects to a device which filters the chemicals out of her bloodstream.
"That outta do it.."
He looks again at her head and all of the lacerations that she had suffered. He treats them with a dermal regenerator. After he's finished, he leaves to study the navigational computer.
After a few hours he returns to Ci'el who is still unconscious. He then flips on the monitor which displays her vital signs.
"Well.. it looks like you've stabilized for the most part. I guess what you need most now is just some rest. Hopefully no one will detect us anytime soon. Don't go anywhere now.."
He goes down to the cargo bay and starts to do maintenance on the torpedo systems. He pulls out a Corellian cigar, lights the end with a flame, puts it in his mouth, then blows a small quantity of smoke out. He then walks over to a panel on the wall, flips a switch which then starts playing music. This music is very beat heavy and it sounds like people are talking in rhythm but very aggressively rather than they are singing.
"Good ol'e House of Pain.. Coronet's best. Haven't heard them in a while."
After he goes back to work, he stops briefly and looks up towards the direction of the medical bay. He finds he's thinking about her a lot more than he expected to and wonders when she'll wake up, and what they'll do after. But for now, he goes back to working on the torpedo launching system.

Ci'el wakes from her unconsciousness, wrapped in a blanket that smells wonderful to her. It takes her a minute to place that it is the smell of her fiance on the blanket. She curls up into the warm fabric and sighs. Her mind has a vague memory of a beautiful voice that has been talking to her periodically for hours, but she cannot place it.
Wait... my fiance?
This thought kicks Ci'el's brain awake, and she sits up quickly in bed, only to notice a syringe pulling the skin of her arm. Her head pounds in her skull and she groans and lies back down. After all the spots fade from her vision, Ci'el pulls the syringe out of her arm and sits up again, this time more slowly. She looks down at her body, processing what has happened. She is underweight and malnourished, lacking all of the curves she had gained in the years that passed since she last saw Natan. She frowns a bit at that; she happened to like those curves. But that is an insignificant detail right now. She looks around the room she is in. A ship's very small medical bay, it seems, with a blanket that smells like her dead fiance. What a nightmare. Was she really so far gone that she was having hallucinations this detailed?
But... is he really dead? Was her dream of being rescued by him really just a dream? Who's ship is she in, if it was all a hallucination? Ci'el stands up slowly, leaning on the wall for support. Her legs are very weak, as they have not been used for a significant period of time. She falls immediately on her first attempt at a step, crumbling to the ground. Ci'el does the only thing she can think to do in this situation, and calls out to a man who she isn't even sure is alive.
"Natan! NATAN!"
Her voice starts out quiet, but turns into a yell of desperation he could surely hear from across the ship.

Mikal is underneath one of the pipes of the launcher assembly trying to repair an electronics problem. He's been there for several hours, but he doesn't notice as he keeps his mind occupied. His beat-heavy music continues in the background, and he starts to 'recite' the lyrics as it comes out of the songs, as the singers are not really singing, but rather asserting rather aggressively. "Put your head out.. Put your head out.. Jump out spread out.. Put-Put your head out.." As it is not particularly complicated music he's able to 'sing' it while he works.
His work however is suddenly interrupted when he hears what sounds like someone yelling from across the ship. It is so loud that it cuts straight through the music and startles him instantly. He jumps and whacks his head on the assembly on the way up. He lets out an expletive that also surely could be heard from across the ship.
"GGAAAAAAGGHH!!! Son of a.."
He looks at it somewhat frustrated then stands up, the Corellian cigar still in his mouth.
"Right.. I guess she's awake" He grips his head again and looks at the assembly. "Don't get any ideas.."
He walks up and out of the cargo bay towards the medical bay. When he gets there he immediately feels something in his head from the force bond which causes him to flinch. It is minor pain and he shakes it off, but nevertheless he is uneasy about it as he's not sure what it is. He also finds that she had gotten out of bed, removed the medical equipment, and had fallen down. He sighs when he realizes what has happened to her legs.
"Great.. your muscles must have atrophied. I didn't think of that.. " He still looks at her for a few seconds before moving closer, not certain if she saw him yet or not. He stands high as he is quite tall. His beard is somewhat scruffy from all of the action and from working on the ship systems when she was unconscious. He's still wearing some of his army fatigues and his composite beam pistol is still attached to his side. He still holds the cigar in his mouth as well without realizing it as it is a bad habit he has picked up in his isolation. He looks so different than he did before that even one very close to him wouldn't even recognize him.. That is if it wasn't for his eyes which still beamed bright white from the electricity in his body. He finally walks forward.
"Hey.. You're awake! Welcome to the land of the living! I believe it's outside.."
He also leans down and grabs her arm trying to help her up, but realizing she probably can't walk, he grows concerned. He also talks quite aggressively without realizing it.
"Hey there.. You alright?"

Ci'el hears a loud yell come from across the ship and lifts her head up in surprise. After a minute or so Natan enters the room, looking very tall, and quite frankly, somewhat intimidating. The Natan she knows would have run to her aid the moment he heard her yelling for help, but instead he just walked to her casually. Something is very, very different about him, and Ci'el doesn't know how she feels about it. He says something about her legs having "atrophied" but she doesn't know what that means so she just assumes it means they don't work anymore. She just stares at him, eyes wide in fear and confusion, as he stands before her, cigar in mouth.
When the hell did he take up smoking anyway?
The more she stares at him the more Ci'el thinks she might need to take care of him. Scruffy beard, dirty, tattered clothes, and a cigar in his mouth? This was not the same Natan she knew years ago. The moment she gets her health back... and her sanity, if she ever manages to reclaim it... she is going to have to help put him back together. But she has a feeling she won't be healthy enough mentally or physically to do that for some time.
When he leans down, grabs her arm, and talks harshly she reels back for a moment, scared. But she looks at his glowing eyes, remembers him, remembers the love they had for each other, and her fear dissipates.
"I didn't hurt myself with the fall, if that's what you mean."
She just keeps staring, for long pauses of time, in utter disbelief that he is before her. Finally after looking at his eyes for too long she speaks. She wants to touch him, his face, his arm, anything, desperately needs to feel him to know that he's real, but it's as if there's an invisible barrier between them at the moment.
"You seem so... calm. No, not calm, but... okay with all this. You're back from the dead! I'm back from the dead! What the hell! Why aren't you scared as kark like I am?"
The curse words probably sound foreign to him coming from her mouth, since she did not get into the habit of using such language until after their separation.

He realizes that he scared her when he grabbed her quite abruptly and he lets up a little. He's somewhat at a loss for words as well.
"S-Sorry.. That's um.. Yes.. That's what I meant. I'm.. glad you didn't hurt yourself. I could hear you from across the ship."
He pauses also as she keeps looking at him. He can't figure out why as she looks like she's seen a ghost. But she speaks again before he can say anything. Although what she says confuses him even further as he is still in denial and still cannot grasp the fact that who he rescued from the slavers was in fact his fiance, along with the fact that it also could be a side-effect from the prolonged isolation.
"Calm? Back .. Back from the dead.. Um.. I.. never died.. And from the looks of it neither did you.. Though you did come pretty close.."
He pauses for a few seconds as he blows out a rather large amount of smoke from the cigar.
"Speaking of which.."
He gets the scanner ready but before he starts scanning..
"Look, I don't know what the hell you're talking about. I've been on Corellia for a very long time, and before then I was out here. Look, I thought I recognized you too, but I've never seen you before today. I hate to say it but you've got the wrong guy. There's nutin' to be scared about.."
He pulls out a scanner from the medical bay, takes off the top, and starts scanning Ci'el to see if the chemicals have been successfully filtered out of her system, but starts talking again while he does it.
"Well.. Unless you're talking about the Jedi Order or the Sith.. As far as they're concerned, I am dead. And honestly I kind of prefer it that way.. That means no one is going to come after us."
The scanner beeps as it completes its scan. He sort of frowns as he sees the results.
"There's still a lot of garbage in your system. I'm guessing its still preventing you from healing. What *DID* that bastard have you on anyways??"
He sighs for a moment. The curse words from his fiance don't phase him very much as he's picked up the bad habit of using fowl language here and there himself.
"I hate to do this but you're going to have to stay hooked up to this until it can filter out all of the junk that you were pumped full of before. After that you.. probably shouldn't have any trouble healing."
He looks down, then back up as he releases some smoke again.
"I'm sorry.. I don't know how else to get it all out.. Come on, We'd better get this started."
He slowly helps her up in a manner that won't startle her again as the last thing he wants is for her to be afraid of him.

Oh. Ohhh. He... he doesn't know it's me. I suppose... it has been years... do I look that different?
He tries to help her up but she resists, pulls him down to her level despite how weak she is feeling, and grabs him by the face, forcing him to look her in the eye.
"Your name is Natan Ransom Harlak. You were born on Corellia. Your parents were murdered by Dark Jedi, and you were in accident that caused your body and skin to have a permanent electric charge, and give your eyes that glow. You joined the Sith and trained with them for many years. Eventually you turned to the light, traveled to Dantooine, and joined the Jedi Order."
"My name is Ci'el Ntaryl. I was born on Ryloth and sold into slavery by my father. I escaped when I was seventeen and fled to Dantooine, where I met you. I remember that day like it was yesterday; I always will. I was dipping my toes in the water of the Khoonda River, singing my mother's lullaby, and you introduced yourself to me. I was waiting to go on a date with someone else, but from the moment I met you, I couldn't take my mind off you. I fell in love with you on that day and never stopped loving you."
As she tells the next part, tears start to fall down her cheeks but she doesn't seem to realize it.
"You say you never died, but I saw it happen. I saw the Sith use force lightning on you and beat you to a pulp. There was no way you could have survived. I held your lifeless body in my arms..."
Now the tears are flowing so strongly she almost can't speak.
"I'm... I'm pretty sure you thought... I was dead. From your... your reaction to seeing... me. At... at Morn's... I mean."
She regains her composure and looks into his eyes intensely.
"Look at me, Natan. You know who I am."

He's startled again as she pulls him down to her level and stares her in the face. He stares long and hard as she explains their entire history. His face remains reactionless as he has absolutely no idea how to react to what she was trying to tell him. In his heart he knows that everything she was telling him was true, but he can't admit it to himself because he had spent the last five years convincing himself he was someone else to avoid persecution at the hands of the Republic and death at the hands of the Sith. He reacts in the only way he knows how.. with denial. However even that is starting to break because he does remember most of his past.
"That's not my name.. The name is Mikal.. Mikal Ovidius. And in case you haven't noticed.. "
He holds up his hand and throws out a spark of electricity which lingers in between his fingers for a few seconds before it dissipates.
"Force lightning has little effect on me.. So force lighting would not have killed me, even if it had been stormed."
However when Ci'el starts explaining her story and how they fell in love it stirs feelings that he had tried to bury for a long time because they were too painful for him to handle. Because they're still too painful to handle he starts to become angry and gets back up quickly. He points at her when he starts to speak again.
"You.. You are NOT Ci'el.. Because I saw HER die in that battle you had described. I saw her caught in an explosion.. There's no way SHE could have survived. I can't deny what I saw! Yes I was there in that battle, I was fighting a rather strong and infamous dark jedi that I knew back at the academy. The next thing I knew was that there were Republic bombers overhead and they dropped plasma napalm right on top of us. The entire area was flattened and everyone in the area was incinerated.. Including Ci'el. I narrowly managed to escape the blast. So you can't be her!"
He backs up a little. At this point he's waving his hands in the air and talking faster and more aggressively than he was before, despite the fact she's in tears.
"Look, I don't know how you have that information, but you could have gotten it anywhere. Hell, maybe the slavers did something to you that made you think you were her, I don't know.. But the galaxy is a pretty weird place, and I've seen some pretty strange stuff. All I know is that you can't be her, because the Republic apparently didn't care who was caught in the blast of their bombs as long as they hit the Sith and they managed to incinerate an entire battalion, along with my fiance with friendly fire!!"
Recalling his version of past events although he gets some details wrong, causes him to nearly break down himself. He turns around breathing more heavily.
"Friendly fire just.. just.. Isn't.."
At this point he is also rationalizing everything to the point that it doesn't make sense anymore he keeps thinking one thing over and over again in his head:
::She's wrong.. It can't be her::
"When I saw you at the complex.. I thought you were her but that's because I.. was reminded and I saw something I wanted to see. That's what startled me to react that way there."
He finally notices that she's crying to the point where she can't speak and tones down a bit. However it will take a while for him to admit what has actually happened and why he can't remember correctly. But for the time being, he knows there is something about her and does not want her to leave.
"Look you .. you can stay here as long as you want. Its.. nice to have company after a while. But please don't mention that again.. Mikal is my name. This.. this Natan? I have no idea who he is."
He starts hooking her back up to the filter, then looks at her again before turning away and walking out back to the cargo bay. He tries to force himself to work again, but he can only sit down on the assembly and hold his head in his hands. His emotions are so turbulent that he starts to cry briefly before shaking it off and lifting his head back up. Because emotions are powerful in force bonds, it is likely that Ci'el knows what he feels, and that deep in his heart he does know that it is her, that he does not want her to leave, and wants more than ever to be close to her again. But for now he does not know how to dig deep enough into his memories and feelings to admit to himself that it is her, mainly due to the prolonged isolation that he was forced to endure, because of the hardships he endured while avoiding the Sith purges, and because of the anger against the Republic and Jedi that he had harbored and was used to holding onto for so long. He finally sits down and leans his head against the launcher assembly so exhausted by his feelings and emotions that he eventually falls asleep.

Natan completely denies their past, their history, and even his own identity. But later on he contradicts that denial by admitting he was present at the attack on Dantooine, and that he saw her die. She can see that his denial is too strong, too deep for her to make him accept that it's her, for now at least. She almost hasn't accepted this situation as reality herself; Ci'el is in such a state of disbelief that she doesn't even know what to do with herself. She decides she won't call him Mikal. It's not his name, she knows it, he knows it, and she is not in love with a Mikal Ovidius. She is in love with Natan Harlak. Perhaps her refusal to call him by a fake name will make him eventually accept who he is.
"I won't call you Mikal, either way. Not when I know your real name. And it wasn't the lightning that killed you. It was their brutality."
When he gets angry at her, she gets angry in return.
"I escaped, Natan! Didn't you ever think about that as a possibility? You never actually saw my dead body, like I saw yours. You only saw a bombing you assumed I was in! I don't know anything about these bombings. All I know is that I pretended to be dead, so that they would leave me in that room, and the moment they left I escaped the building through air ducts and lived in a cave far away from the destroyed Enclave. I stayed there for a month, then stowed away on a ship that brought me to Nar Shaddaa."
She is unaware, but she has started sobbing in response to his anger. He'd never been angry at her before, never. On top of that, she missed him now more than ever and the pain of having him right in front of her but not with her was worse than him being dead. He leaves the room and she continues to cry, silently, alone in the dim light of the medical room. She senses him across the ship, going through a range of emotions worse than her own. He can probably sense her, too, which will only make their emotions double.
After a couple hours of being alone in the medical bay Ci'el can't stand it anymore. She rips the syringes out of her arm again and becomes determined to walk, or at least get out of this room somehow. She looks down at herself and finally notices her state of undress; the thin strips of cloth Morn had her dressed in were hardly clothing in the first place, and they'd become tattered and ripped to a degree that left very little to the imagination. She blushes and wraps the blanket around her body. Ci'el slowly moves her legs over to the side of the bed, resting her feet on the floor, and lifts herself with the support of her arms on the bed frame. It seems she can stand, but walking is another story. Every time she takes a step, she crumples to the floor. After several tries, resulting in several bruises, she eventually determines she'll crawl across the friggin' ship if she has to. It takes her quite some time to find the cargo bay out of all the rooms on this starship, and by the time she gets there she is exhausted from the effort.
She sees that Natan has fallen asleep, which explains why his emotions calmed a bit a couple hours ago. She hates to wake him, but her traumatic experiences with Morn cause her to have anxiety attacks when she's left alone for too long, and she needs human company.
"Natan..."
She gives him a minute to stir. Her voice is pleading and desperate when she talks to him.
"Please don't leave me alone in there. Being hooked up to those IVs, in a small room, it's too much like being a slave again, with no control over myself. Don't leave me. Please."
Ci'el rests her head on his knee, aware that he might not be too happy about it since he hasn't accepted who she is, but she's overwhelmed with exhaustion from the effort of getting to this room, and she doesn't really care at the moment. Finally she remembers the other reason she needed to find him.
"Could I... uhh. I mean. Do you? Well. Do you have any extra clothes?"
She stumbles over her words, flushing with embarrassment. Even in the time she and Natan knew each other intimately, they were never intimate, so being half naked in front of him makes her feel incredibly awkward. They had always had a very innocent relationship, since she used to be very innocent herself. Though that innocence has faded due to the difficulties she has gone through in the past couple years, she still blushes like the seventeen year old she was when she met him.

While Mikal is sleeping, has another intense dream which this time is a flashback of the Sith invasion of Dantooine where he recalls where he remembers seeing Ci'el die. This one is more intense due to the fact he was recently thinking about it, and it is likely that Ci'el may be able to see it herself over the force bond, though Mikal would be completely unaware of it. -----
Mikal finds himself back on the front lines at the top of the fields in between Khoonda and the crystal caves. He knows the Ci'el is still somewhere in between Khoonda and the Enclave along with a large group of civilians that had yet to be evacuated. The Sith however was charging in almost from every direction and sending wave after wave of troops at the line that he was helping to defend. The troops under Mikal's command had already taken a beating and the line was growing dangerously thin. He's at the center of the line firing his rifle into the wave of approaching Sith troopers. He finally manages to get up and run to the troopers in charge of communications.
"Lieutenant Hastings! Where the hell is the air support??!! We're not going to be able to hold them off much longer! Civilians are still back at the Enclave!"
Hastings was the lieutenant responsible for calling in air support. He looks over at the adjacent troops.
"Seargent Briggs! You've gotta tell your companies to pop smoke to mark the lines! Our fighters cannot see the enemy, and they cannot pick out our friendlies!"
Briggs's reply is not good and makes Mikal worry even further.
"There are no lines! We have enemies and friendlies all over the place out there!" He turns to Mikal..
"Sir! Our defense lines are collapsing! Alpha company and Beta Company cannot hold, and Charlie company is being overrun!!"
Mikal finally looks up and walks back over to one of the lines up on the hill who is desperately trying to fight off a large wave of advancing Sith troops. He looks back over the hill to the North side of Khooda by the river, only to see that the Republic soldiers there aren't having much luck either. He finally walks back and says only three words, pausing in between the first and second.
"Hastings!!! .... BROKEN ARROW!!"
Hastings nods after a few seconds and Mikal starts running back to the lines, after which he sets off a few smoke grenades to mark the Republic lines. After which Hastings screams into the communicator the call sign that signals that Republic lines have been overrun and calls in every available aircraft and ships for support.
"BROKEN ARROW!! I say again.. BROKEN ARROW!!"
After Mikal pops smoke to mark the lines he notices a rather thick line of Sith troops advancing right towards the center of the Republic lines. He quickly arms his grenade launcher that is attached to the underside of his rifle, then fires it right into the advancing Sith. The impact causes the ground underneath the Sith to explode, which throws them off the ground in all directions and kills them instantly. He runs back to communications.
"Report!!" "Broken Arrow confirmed! The fighters are on their way! We'll get'em sir!"
Mikal finally feels a shred of hope that *maybe* they will be successful with the air support in repelling the Sith attack because although most Republic ships were already engaged, they were still able to spare a few to help repel the ground assault. However Mikal could sense that the Sith were again getting dangerously close, so he runs back to the front, which at this point was not even fifty meters away. He joins the troops and starts firing again into the massive Sith wave approaching.
Soon he hears the screeching sound of Republic fighters overhead and getting closer. ::Its about time..::
A few seconds later, one of the fighters dives directly at the advancing Sith. Not even 20 feet off the ground, it drops part of its ordinance, which explodes into a massive fiery blaze on impact, incinerating the entire back of the Sith wave which was heading towards Khoonda. Mikal realizes that they're dropping plasma napalm bombs - incendiary devices designed to wipe out a large area all at once by setting it ablaze and scorching the grounds. The Republic troops cheer when it hits as the wave all of a sudden seems smaller.
A second republic fighter makes an attack run going the other direction, and drops another plasma bomb directly into the Sith wave, vaporizing them in another large blaze. This one however was closer to the republic line than the first. A third bombing run brings the large plasma fire even closer, though there are still a large amount of Sith troops advancing. The fighters circle back around overhead with their blaster cannons firing into the advancing Sith.
Things finally seem to be turning around and Mikal's hope grows. But then however, he senses that something is about to go horribly wrong. He looks up, then slowly turns his head right to notice that two Republic fighters are about to make bombing runs, but this time they heading straight for the Republic lines.
::If they drop their ordinance.. That'll get the Sith.. But that's also going to hit *US*..::
Mikal frantically gets up an runs as fast as he can back to communications.
"HASTINGS!! CALL THEM OFF!! CALL THEM THE HELL OFF!!" Mikal quickly points to the fighters who are rapidly moving towards them. Hastings frantically calls in over the communicators.
"ABORT!! ABORT!! ABORT!! PULL UP!!!"
Its too late, as the Republic fighters have already dropped their plasma bombs. Mikal frantically in the little time that he has before the bombs hit the ground to try and pull back as many troops as he can.
"FALL BACK!! FALL BACK!! EVERYONE FALL BACK NOW!!"
A handful of soldiers in the back of the lin. e hear him and start running back towards Khoonda. However with the bombs only seconds away from hitting, they were too late to escape the blast. The plasma napalm bombs hit the ground and explodes into a massive inferno, engulfing both the rest of the advancing Sith and the entire remaining front line in front of the field in front of Khoonda. Mikal and the communications team were not even 10 meters away from the edge of the plasma fire and they all get thrown backwards. Mikal looks back and sees the Republic troops screaming in pain as the plasma fire consumed them and vaporized them a moment later. Mikal looks over at Hastings and Briggs, both of whom are stunned beyond belief after what just happened. He finally manages to get up, though he's still out of breath. But no sooner than they all get up, the ground shakes and there is another large plasma explosion behind them. They all duck as they were not expecting an explosion behind them. All three of them see two Republic fighters flying out from over where the explosion had occurred. Hastings and Briggs are completely astonished as the blasts were dangerously close to the Enclave.
"DAMMIT!! WHAT THE HELL ARE THEY DOING??!!" Hastings tries to radio in, but Mikal grabs the communicator before he has a chance.
"CEASE FIRE!! CEASE FIRE!! THERE ARE CIVILIANS BY THE ENCLAVE! I REPEAT!! CEASE FIRE!!!!"
No response. Mikal suddenly realizes that the Republic fighters weren't sent only to bomb the Sith advance, but to obliterate the entire area as the Republic commanders had considered them to be overrun.
"Oh no.. Ci'el.." He takes off running as fast as he can using the force back to the Enclave to get his fiance out of the carnage... He arrives near the Enclave and sees more than a hundred civilians with a few Jedi. He thinks he also see's his fiance. He starts running towards her yelling out to her... But he's too late. The bombers rapidly drop their plasma bombs which explode on impact and incinerate the entire area along with everyone in the area right before his eyes. He is in utter disbelief and shock with what just happened.. He can't even bring himself to scream or do anything. He just stands there in front of the explosion and as he sees the enclave burst into flames. However the flames are getting dangerously close to where Mikal was standing and he suddenly hears more fighters about to drop more bombs, cutting off his escape. He finally gets ahold of himself and frantically runs towards the only place of cover: The river. He dives into the river just as the flames reach him and another explosion shoots over him. He hits the water as the fire rushes over. Debris starts falling into the water so he gets back against one of the banks. After a few minutes of holding his breath he surfaces his head above the water and looks around. He can't see over the banks, so he crawls out onto the riverbank..
He finally overlooks the entire area, while still on all fours from crawling out of the water. The entire area is destroyed, is scorched black, and still on fire in some places. There's nothing around the Enclave except plasma fires and debris.
"Ci'el... No... Ci'el.. " He starts crawling forward trying to get up, but then hears a lightsaber activate behind him. He slowly turns around to face a dark Jedi standing over him who Mikal instantly recognizes.. ----- At this point Mikal is twitching back and forth trying to wake himself up. Ci'el succeeds in waking him up, but he is completely out of breath, and he's stunned beyond belief. He looks around frantically and notices his ship. He's about to get up but then notices Ci'el is there. He can't explain to himself why, but seeing her brings him a sense of relief. The fact that she is half naked in front of him doesn't even matter at this point as he's still in shock from his dream. In fact he doesn't even seem to notice as he's still stirring. After a bit he finally processes what Ci'el told him about not wanting to be alone and her request for some clothes. He finally brings himself to be able to speak but his sentences are still somewhat broken from the shock.
"Uh... um.. Alone.. Slave.. Small room.. Right.. Of course.. I didn't think of that.. S-sorry.. "
He waits a few more seconds.
"Clothes.. right.. of course. The um.. The r-rooms. I mean.. your room.. All of the rooms.. They all have synthesizers.. You can um.. replicate clothing. Right.. whatever you want from them."
He's still somewhat incoherent, trying to keep himself from breaking down even further. He begins to be somewhat embarrassed but at the same time, although he wouldn't admit at this point, he longs for company as well and doesn't want Ci'el to leave even though he still denies her identity. And although he would not wish Ci'el to see or remotely experience what he had just dreamed about because it was so horrific, part of him wishes that she could just so she could understand him better. For the moment however he manages to gain a little more composure.
"The um.. Right. Do you need me to - I mean.. Would you like me to show you where they are?

As Mikal waits for her reply, he looks around still somewhat frantic and nervous from his dream. He quickly pulls out another Corellian cigar, lights it, and quickly inhales to alleviate his extreme anxiety, then subsequently blows it out as he becomes a bit more relaxed. Apparently at this point Mikal considered becoming more relaxed more important than his health later in life, as Corellian cigars succeed quite well in easing tension and anxiety. But at the same time however, they are extremely bad for health. He inhaled and exhaled one more time before holding it in his mouth again as he did before.

Ci'el sees his dream through their force bond. It helps her to better understand his perspective on what happened on Dantooine during the Sith attack, as she herself was knocked out for a period of time, and then escaped to caves far enough away from the Enclave to not know what was going on. She can feel his panic, his misery, at the scene in his dream. She understands all too well the feeling of believing the one you love is dead. She hates to relive it, and she hates even more to relive it from his side. While her own pain was unbearable, to know that her love was suffering all these years is even worse.
They had both gone through so much... and here they are, finally reunited, and yet they still suffer. Because the pain of what Natan has gone through has caused his brain to set up defenses that will not allow him to acknowledge her existence. Her own brain is so messed up - first from losing him, and then from torture by Morn, that she still questions reality frequently. If only there was some way to prove to him, and to prove to herself, that this is real. Something substantial, some hard evidence, something physical... her ring! Her engagement ring! She wore it around her neck during her time in hiding to keep her identity secret, as it was a very unique, one-of-a-kind ring that would have given her away to anyone looking for her. Her hand flies to her collarbone to search for it, even though she knows Morn never would have let her keep something so valuable when he could sell it instead. She nearly breaks into tears at the thought of it being lost forever when Natan wakes up and she is distracted from her thoughts.
He takes her to a different room in the ship and gives her clothes that are more modest, much to her relief. When he gives her some privacy, she changes into the robes and something small falls out of her old outfit, clanking across the metal ground. Ci'el picks it up off the ground and realizes it is her engagement ring, gold band and green gemstone, miraculously still in her possession after all she has gone through. Unbeknownst to her, Trisana Marrik, the bounty hunter, had had a small streak of sympathy for the young Twi'lek when she gave Ci'el over to Morn. When Morn brought out the outfit he wanted Ci'el to wear, Trisana had insisted on changing the unconscious Twi'lek's clothes herself rather than having Morn's filthy guards do it. While changing her, Tris had found the ring and tied it to her new outfit, tucking it away in the folds of the fabric so even Ci'el had not known it was there.
Ci'el slips the gem onto her finger, even more shocked and disbelieving than she has been since Natan rescued her. In a dreamlike state, she walks back out of the room to where her fiance is standing, waiting. She looks at him, dumbfounded, and says simply.
"My ring."
Tears begin to slip down her face.
"My ring." She just keeps repeating it, over and over again, crying all the while.
"I can't believe... Morn wouldn't have let me keep it... how can this be true? How can any of this be true?"
Ci'el closes her eyes, looks up, and speaks in her native language.
"Kika'lekki... arni'soyacho. Ril jaala'ril toosa'xama'ael atuhlkaa'li mi'sou, ssanti tuklii ril atuhlkaa'teeubo ek ma'eswo kare." "<Twi'lek goddess>... thank you. I thought I would have to <celebrate> a funeral, but now I celebrate the life of my fiance."

Giving Ci'el some privacy after taking her to her new quarters, he walks out into the hallway about half way to the command center, still smoking the cigar. He's calmer than he was as the tobacco starts to take an effect. Though he knows its synthetic and won't last forever, he's just grateful not to be anxious or angry. He is still stunned from the dream that he had just woken from. He rubs his eyes and gives out a heavy sigh, still not really knowing what to do now. They were on course towards the outer rim, where Republic and Sith activity was the thinnest. He wanted nothing to do with either of them, or their war as he considered himself to be an outcast and betrayed by both.
"Computer.. How long until we reach the border of the outer rim?" The computer replies with its usual monotone voice. ::Forty-Seven Days, three hours, 19 minutes and 8 seconds::
Mikal sighs and leans against the wall. "Great.. why did I choose Corellia.."
He's about to make his way to the bridge when Ci'el comes stumbling out of her room. He whips around towards her.
"Whoa, whats going on? What would he let you keep??"
He grabs her to make sure she doesn't fall or hurt herself as she wasn't walking very steadily. He hears her speak in her native language. He knows little about Twi'lek mythology or religion, but he understands her when she mentions her fiance.
"Huh?? Look.. We've been through this, I'm not.. "
He cuts himself off when he notices a green glow coming from her hand. He tilts his head down to get a better look.
"Wait a minute.."
He grabs her wrist rather hard and pulls it up towards his head so he can look at the ring. His eyes grow wider as he can't believe what he sees. He almost whispers his next few words.
"A RAINBOW GEM... "
Rainbow gems were some of the rarest artifacts in the galaxy, with only a few known to exist. They were actually silicon-based lifeforms which took thousands of years to mature, and were native to the planet Gallinore. The green glow came from within, and although a biological entity, it still possessed all the qualities of a gemstone, including the texture and hardness. Still in awe, he looks at her, then slowly looks back at the gem, still holding her wrist.
"Where did you get this..?? Do you have any idea how much one of these things are worth??!! I mean.. You could by a capital class starship with just one of these."
He finally lets go of her wrist and starts to turn slowly towards the command center again, but then turns back to her.
"Did you have this the whole time?? How did Morn miss this?? If he had found it.. "
He slowly walks by her, but then stops again.
"There's.. There aren't even that many in existence. To even come across one in a lifetime is .. well, pretty rare to say the least. I mean the only other time I've ever seen one was.. "
He suddenly remembers the ring that he had given Ci'el when he asked her to marry him, the ring containing the green glowing rainbow gem that had been in his possession since he was imprisoned in Tyrenna before he became a Sith. At that moment he has a flashback of him sliding the ring onto Ci'els finger back on Dantooine. He becomes short breathed and stumbles back against the wall and drops his cigar which falls to the metallic floor and eventually goes out. He had completely forgotten about it and buried it from his memory as he considered it to be lost along with Ci'el. He knew however that it could have been another ring, as the chances of finding another one of these unique gems were rare but not impossible. He takes her wrist again, this time more gently and looks at it again.
"There's only one way to be sure.. " He looks at Ci'el. "I'm going to have to borrow this.. I'll give it back.." He slides the ring off of her finger and then takes off into the cargo bay where he has a workbench. Although rainbow gems were actually silicone-based lifeforms, they possessed all the qualities of actual gems, including the possibility of having imperfections. This rainbow gem had such an imperfection - a very slight line on one of the sides where the two sides of the gem don't line up perfectly. It was so slight that it was barely able to be seen by the naked eye and near impossible to spot if one did not know where to look, but it could be seen more easily with an image enhancer or a magnifying device.
Mikal keeps repeating in his mind that there's only one way to be sure that this was the ring that he had given Ci'el. He had never told Ci'el about the imperfection as he didn't consider it relevant at the time. However this time, this slight imperfection would tell the difference between this gem and another. He sits down at the workbench and hooks a magnifier around his ear which goes around to his right eye. He then looks at the gem through the magnifier looking for the line. It takes a few minutes but he finally spots a place where the reflections don't match. He takes a closer look and finally spots the line that he was looking for. It was in the same place and in the same shape as the one that he had given Ci'el. He slowly puts it down on the bench, unhooks the device, then leans back into his chair. He's starring at the wall not knowing what to do or what to say. The imperfection was a dead giveaway as it was impossible for two rainbow gems or any gemstone to have the same imperfection in the same shape and in the same place. There was no doubt about it. This was the same ring and gem he had given to Ci'el on Dantooine.
He starts to think how Ci'el could have gotten it at this point, as he still doubted who she was. However he starts to realize that if someone else had found it that she would not have had it as it was too valuable, and she most likely would not be on his vessel right now with him. He eventually slowly gets up, slowly walks about half way across the cargo bay and sits down on a torpedo casing with his head in his hands as he tries to make sense of his thoughts, memories, and what just happened.
::How.. How can this be possible.. I saw her die.. Am I dreaming? Hallucinating? The ring.. That ring.. its unmistakeable.. There's.. There's just no other way.. But I saw her die.. and yet she's here.. She can't be both dead and alive.. Its not.. Its just not possible::

Natan takes her hand roughly in his, and she stands there numbly as he inspects the ring. She doesn't respond to any of his inquiries about the ring, still unable to speak. It does register, however, just how valuable the ring is. When Natan proposed he had told Ci'el that it was rare, but she had no idea just how rare. When he takes her hand again, Ci'el notices a change in his behavior toward her - a slight change, one only she would notice. He treats her with more care, lifting her hand and removing the ring gently. This small action wakes her brain up and kicks it into drive; at once she realizes that his actions show that he may be beginning to accept who she is.
He leaves the room and she starts formulating a plan, thinking of what she can possibly do to take advantage of his change of behavior. Before she comes to any conclusions, she hears his thoughts through their force bond. She is now surprisingly calm, having decided to take over the situation since she sees this as a window of opportunity to get him to recognize her. This may be her only chance.
Ci'el walks into the room he is sitting down in. She slowly kneels down in front of Natan. She looks up into his eyes, and gingerly takes his face in her hands.
::I told you how, my love. You and I were both knocked out by Darth Reaperr and believed the other to be dead. When I awoke, your body was gone. I went into hiding. And somehow, after all this time, I have found my way back to you.::
She pauses to give him time to absorb the information.
::You do not need a ring to know me. We have a bond, Natan Harlak, that can never be broken. You lost your memory once before and I stayed with you then. Now, even with your mind as fragile as it is, I love you more than ever before. I will stay with you until the day I die, and if there is an afterlife, I will be with you there. Look into my eyes, Natan. Remove the blocks on your mind. Listen to the Force, to the bond between us. You know me. Our souls know each other.::

Mikal's head is lifted up when Ci'el gently takes his head into her hands. His white eyes gaze into her dark green eyes. When he first hears her voice in his head he flinches momentarily as he is unprepared for it, but then gazes again into her eyes. His thoughts are still going on, though he is now aware that she can most likely hear him.
::But.. The Republic obliterated the entire area.. Plasma bombs.. Everything was destroyed.. Everyone there.. Dead.. the enclave in flames.. Nothing left.. Just.. green fire.. everywhere::
As he listens to her again, he doesn't even know how to react. He simply stares into her eyes. He knows she's not a hallucination, and that there simply isn't another explanation for everything that just occurred. And as he feels her presence and hears her thoughts through the force bond, he can no longer deny that the young beautiful Twi'lek kneeling in front of him was in fact his fiance. Though still to him she is back from the dead, she is nevertheless here. He hears her pledge to stay with him the rest of their lives, and he feels her love for him. Its so intense that it causes his eyes to shut about half way, but he reopens them after several seconds. And although he had forgotten, he realizes that he loved her just as much and wanted nothing more than to be close to her again. He finally brings himself to speak again, though he mutters at first and looks down at the same time.
"I.. I don't go by that name.. anymore.. Not for a long time.. " He doesn't realize it but he starts speaking in Ryl, as he used to do for her occasionally when they were together long ago.
"Ril jaala Eyi kii ch'sei.."

Ci'el stares back as Natan stares at her.
"How can you expect me to call you anything else? Natan is the name I have always known you by, my love."
He speaks in Ryl and she knows he has accepted her existence. Her heart nearly breaks at the sound of him using her native tongue, a language he learned solely for her. She presses her forehead against his and whispers back to him.
"Ril kich'ee... Ril kich'ee... ril jaala'eyi kii ch'sei, aelo." I know... I know... I thought you were dead, too.
She takes a moment to soak in his presence, their foreheads still touching, before speaking again.
"You can't... imagine... the misery I went through. I never stopped thinking about you - every minute, every day. Everything reminded me of you. It was horrible."

He ignores her question about why he no longer goes by the name of Natan as he feels her slide her hand in back of his head and press his forehead against hers. He too closes his eyes to take her presence. His eyelids glow red slightly because of his white eyes while he finally speaks again, remembering the last time he was on Dantooine and what lead to his isolation on Corellia.
"Well.. I kind of do.. Sort of.. But I know it wasn't what you went through. When I saw you on Corellia for the first time again.. "
He pauses for a moment.
"I tried not to think about it.. It was difficult to function after what I had seen. I hid on Corellia, joined CORSEC.. Managed to procure these modifications to this ship.. Just kept busy enough so I didn't have to think too much. Of course.. You were there every time I slept. And then I felt.. something I had to follow. I followed it to Morn's complex.. I found you.. And I just.. didn't think it was possible.
He grins when he realizes he's not making much sense, but he backs up from her forehead a bit and looks into her eyes nonetheless.
"Well.. lets just say he won't be bothering us ever again. I don't think anyone will be able to bother us where we're going.."
He pulls back a little further, enough to turn away a bit, but he still holds her hand not wanting to let go. He sits back down as his face returns back to a bit of a cold stare as he answers her earlier question.
"I.. haven't gone by the name Natan for.. well since the beginning of the latest Jedi purge."
He shrugs for a moment..
"As far as the Republic and Sith are concerned, Natan Harlak is dead. Obviously they are mistaken, but for our safety I think it's best to maintain that perception and avoid any unnecessary entanglements."
He looks back up at her.
"I go by Mikal now.. ok? The name Natan just.. brings up too many unpleasant reminders. We're here now and what's past is past. Even though there are very few of us left, we have to keep moving forward. The less attention we attract the better."
He grins again and looks at the extensive weapons modifications he made to the ship, the most visible being the plasma torpedo launching system on both sides of the cargo bay.
"That isn't to say I'm not prepared for a confrontation if case it does happen.. You really can't be too sure these days and should be prepared for anything."
He looks back at Ci'el.
"What happened to you on Dantooine? If you weren't caught in the blast or in the plasma fire that engulfed the enclave, how did you escape and manage to get off of Dantooine?"

Ci'el's words are slow and measured, the shock of the situation still quite evident in her voice.
"The Force must have brought us together. That is the only possible explanation. How else would you have found me there, what are the odds? I still can't... it's like you're back from the dead. Everything seems like a dream. If that's true, I just hope I never wake up."
Suddenly, it clicks. Morn is dead. The man who has haunted her nightmares for so long she can't remember a time when he wasn't her biggest fear... is dead. She breaks into tears again, but this time they are tears of happiness, of relief.
"He's gone. Morn is actually gone. I'm free... forever."
She wipes her eyes with the back of her hand, catching most of the tears but a few stray ones still run down her cheek.
"All this crying is giving me a headache."
He begins to pull back, still holding her hand but emotionally distancing himself. This makes her angry. She stands up, sits in his lap, puts one arm around his neck and turns his face to hers with her free hand, gentle but firm.
"Don't turn away from me. I've been without you for too long. Do you know what torture it would be to finally be reunited with you but for you to not want to touch me? Do you know how many nights I cried out to the Force, begged for your return? Begged to feel your arms around me just once more? Don't turn away from me, Natan. Just don't."
He talks about how he hasn't gone by the name Natan in years, but she knows she'll never be able to call him by anything else, in private at least.
"In public, I can call you Mikal. But, your name... your name is you. It'd be like letting go of you."
He asks about Dantooine. It was a traumatic experience by a normal person's standards, living in a cave by herself for so many days she lost count, surviving through primal instincts and hunting small cave animals. But with all the tragedies in Ci'el's past, this seems like nothing but a small scrape, rather than a gaping wound.
"I honestly... can't remember that well. I think the exhaustion of the battle, the after-effects of Reaperr's force lightning," she shudders at the thought, "the trauma of thinking I had lost you... it's not very clear. My only thought was survival, all other thoughts were lost. But I remember somehow making it to a cave, very far away from the Enclave. And there I stayed, I don't know for how long, I don't know for how many days, until the war scene calmed. Until the Sith relaxed their defenses, let their guard down. And I slipped onto a civilian spaceship undetected, and made my way to Nar Shaddaa. I had to return to dancing to survive. It was horrible. Almost like self-inflicted slavery... but at least I got to keep my dignity. Got paid for the job. My only source of hope was finding the Jedi, reuniting with them. Wait! The Jedi! Are you in touch with them? Do you know where they are? Oh, what I wouldn't give to finish my training."

- - - - 3939 BBY, One Year Later - - - -
Mikal is still recording his log when he hears the computer alert go off. He goes over to the Nav-console and notices something strange about their destination.
"That.. odd.. The co-ordinates shifted.. Why would.."
He shakes his head.
"Alright.. Computer adjust heading to 3781 Mark 2"
:::Adjustments Complete. Estimated time to arrival, 26 hours and 38 minutes:::
Mikal heads back to finish his recording.
"Ok where was I.. Right.. Yeah, I was pretty messed up. I suppose I still am to a degree. Though I'll never admit it to Ci'el.." He grins jokingly. "I never could keep anything from her.. It doesn't take a Jedi Master to be able to tell what I'm feeling or thinking.. Speaking of which, Ci'el finally expressed that she wanted to reunite with the Jedi and continue her training. That's when things started to get interesting.. "
- - - - CONTINUE FLASHBACK. One Year Earlier.. - - - -
Mikal knows she isn't happy when he pulls back as such, though because of his isolation he doesn't know how to react any other way. His eyes glowing the same as before, he simply stares back at her into her eyes after she sits down on his lap and turns his face towards her and replies to her frustration with only three words:
"Yeah.. I do." Though the fact that she said she could call him Mikal in public but not in private brings him out of it somewhat, though he starts thinking again about what happened in Morn's complex before he destroyed it.
"I.. suppose I can live with that. I just.. don't want anyone to find us or recognize us, ok? The purge is still going on and as far as I know everyone who I ever knew except you has disappeared. Even the walls have ears these days."
He finally looks back up at her..
"You really don't remember do you.. I suppose I shouldn't find that surprising, you were barely conscious at the time."
He starts to remember what he did at Morns complex including the ruthlessness and brutality he used to fight the guards, and eventually Morn himself. A few images flash through his mind after a few seconds. Unable to tell if Ci'el can sense it, he tries to block the images out as best as he can.
"Perhaps its best you were.."
He listens intently to her describe her survival on Dantooine. He shakes his head in disgust when she tells him how she had to revert back to dancing to survive, as he appalled the entire industry. Though his expression changes substantially when she mentions the Jedi. He hadn't even though about it for a long time, though he still had no intention of reuniting with them because of recent events.
"No.. I haven't. And I'm not going to be either. I have no idea where they are, if they even exist anymore. And even if I did, I wouldn't reunite with them. I'd just as well head in the other direction at maximum hyperspace.'
He pauses for a second, as he knows this is something that she most likely does not want to hear, but he comes up with a few ideas of his own.
"If you really want to finish your training.. Well.. I could do that.. That is if you'd let me. Besides, I can teach you things no Jedi ever will.."
As he says this, his eyes flicker somewhat brighter for a split second, but then returns back to normal. As this happens he grins slightly. He becomes somewhat excited at the prospect of sharing his knowledge and experiences with his fiance, though he realizes she's probably not going to like much of it as he's unsure how devoted she was to Jedi doctrine. But he's enthusiastic about it nevertheless - the first time he has been enthusiastic about anything since the disaster at Dantooine.
