NAME: Ci’el Ntaryl, in Basic. In Twi’leki, however, it is spelled Cieln'taryl.
Her name is pronounced “sea-ell” and “tah-ril,” with a silent n, in Basic.
In Twi’leki it is “see-eln-tah-ril.”
AGE: 21
GENDER: Female
SPECIES: Twi’lek
AFFILIATION/FACTION: Jedi
RANK: 55
CLASS: Consular
ALIGNMENT: Light
HISTORY: Ci’el was born on the Twi’lek home world of Ryloth, where she spent the first years of her life. As a child, she was quite close to her mother and spent most of her time with her. When Ci’el was still quite young, her father participated in Vassij’ra, or selling one's own daughter into slavery, against the will of her mother. When the slavers came to take her away, her mother became frantic and began to attack them in order to save her child, and one of the slavers shot her with a blaster, killing her on the spot. Ci’el has forever been traumatized by this event, and much of her personality reflects that. Ci’el was taken by the slavers to Corellia, where she was passed from master to master for years. Most of them had her work as a singer and a dancer in some of the crummiest, most scum-filled bars and entertaining venues on the planet, but she never remained with any of these men for long. Some of her masters were crueler than others, but none were unbearable until she was sold to the man… or animal, to be more realistic, who owned her longest, named Morn. Morn turned Ci'el into a high-society slave, and from then on she danced and sang only for the highest-paying politicians and celebrities in the galaxy. Morn also abused her in every way possible, and Ci’el began to hit the breaking point of sanity when she started to plot her escape. One night while she was dancing in a bar, when Morn stepped out of the room for a few minutes to conduct some business, she sweet-talked one of the drunk politicians into breaking her out of her master’s house later that night. Miraculously, the drunkard showed up on time and managed to give Ci’el her freedom. She put on one of Morn’s dark cloaks and head outside into the night, slipping onto the first ship she could find, falling unconscious from exhaustion once she was safely stowed away. The idea of Morn finding her always haunted her, however, and Ci’el would never return to Corellia if she could help it. She woke up on the peaceful planet of Dantooine, unsure of how she had arrived there. She was allowed access into the Jedi Enclave so that she might have a place to rest her head for the next few nights until she could get back on her feet. At the time she was only seventeen.
Two days later, while dipping her toes in the waters of the Khoonda River and pondering what to do with her life, she came across a man named Natan Harlak, whom she would later fall in love with, and who encouraged her to join the Jedi Order. After some thought she agreed that becoming a Jedi was the best path for her, and it was there on Dantooine that Ci’el’s life finally started to turn around. For the first time in years, she felt at peace. The peace was not long-lived however. Bounty hunters hired by Morn showed up on Dantooine and would have kidnapped her if not for the interference of Natan Harlak, who killed the three of them on a spot. That seemed to be then end of Morn's efforts to recapture her and the return of their time of peace, but less than a year later, their happiness was stolen again when the Jedi Enclave was attacked by the Sith, and Ci’el saw Natan brutally murdered before her eyes. She herself was severely injured, having been attacked by Darth Reaperr, who used Sith lightning on her several times. Ever since Reaperr attacked her, she has discovered that she is able to use light in unusual ways. She can manipulate light energy, almost as if she is bending it to her will, and when she unconsciously used it to defend herself once, she nearly killed her attacker on accident. It seems to be a strange combination of pure light and electricity. During the battle, in a moment of sheer desperation, Ci’el subconsciously attacked the mind of Reaperr, who felt a light stinging pain, almost as if a thousand tiny needles were poking at his mind. She is unsure what this power was, but has been unable to reproduce it since that day.
After the battle of Dantooine, Ci’el was thought dead by her fellow Jedi, and so she was left behind on the Sith-infested planet to fend for herself. She managed to crawl into a nearby cave and nurse herself back to health, killing and eating whatever cave animals happened to walk in order to stay alive. She believes she avoided the detection of the Sith for two reasons. One, because they already believed her to be dead, since they had seen her lying unconscious on the floor of the Enclave, and two, since she was not a Master Jedi or even a well-trained Padawan, her Force signature was not overly significant, and therefore she could be any regular Force-sensitive on the planet. She waited about a standard month for the chaotic aftermath of the Battle to calm down and stowed away on a ship leaving the planet as soon as she thought it was safe. The ship took her to Nar Shaddaa, and it is there that she remained, forced to return to singing and dancing to make a living. Ci'el had not had enough Jedi training during her time at the Enclave to defend herself against her various enemies, so she took on the alias Conterra, to hide her identity from the Sith and her previous slaver, Morn, who she was sure would enslave her again if he could ever find her.
After some time, she earned enough credits to take piloting lessons and buy herself a ship, a small but well-armored vessel she named Tarkona Tyri, which is Rylothean for "Purple Storm." With her new ship, Ci'el made her way to Coruscant in the hopes of finding a Jedi who could help her get in touch with the Order once more. There she met a Devaronian, a Cathar, and a small rodent-like creature who hired to be the pilot for a treasure-hunting mission in the Outer Rims. Unbeknownst to her, at this time Morn hired a bounty hunter, Trisana Marrik, to find her and return her to him at any cost. While Ci'el was on this piloting mission with her new acquaintances, she was found by the bounty hunter and knocked unconscious. Trisana brought her back to Morn on Corellia, a place Ci'el had sworn never to return to even if her life depended on it. Morn took Ci'el as his slave once more and had her chained in an underground chamber for weeks, in an attempt to break her spirit. It was a pointless endeavor, since what little hope Ci'el had left in her since her fiance's death was crushed the moment she realized her fate; to be a slave to Morn till the day she died, for surely there was no way she could ever escape him again. After her previous escape, he had implemented increased security in his slaving complex, making escape impossible. Ci'el refused to eat, drink, speak, or move, and showed no signs of life aside from the fact that she was breathing and blinking. Morn would not let her die that easily, however, and so she was given chemical nutrients via an IV to keep her alive. For weeks she was left to rot, barely kept alive, and abused and tortured by Morn's guards.
Meanwhile, elsewhere on Corellia, Natan Harlak was alive and well, having escaped the attack on Dantooine years ago while Ci'el was unconscious, and believed by Natan to be dead. He was working on a plan to invade Morn's slaving complex and arrest him for his crimes, and his plan went into action about a month after Ci'el was enslaved. He broke into the complex, unaware that the fiance he believed to be dead was in the building, and felt a strange feeling from the Force guiding him to her room. Upon seeing her chained there he did not recognize her, as his brain had put up walls around the memories of her in order to decrease the pain of losing the love of his life. Ci'el lost it at the sight of him, and though she believed him to be only an illusion, she begged, screamed, and pleaded for him not to leave her behind. He promised not to leave her, though he still did not accept her identity, and she fainted from emotional and physical exhaustion after hearing his promise. He unchained her, killed the guards who came into attack them, and blew up the slaving complex as he escaped with Ci'el unconscious in his arms. Morn died in the explosion. He took her to his ship, where he cared for her until she woke up from a 3-day-long coma. For days he still did not accept that she was his long lost love, and Ci'el was only able to convince him by producing her engagement ring. At this time they promised never to be separated again.
POST TIME JUMP: For the next year, Ci'el improved her abilities as a Force user and duelist under Natan's tutelage, who was a far more advanced Jedi than herself. They recovered her ship Tarkona Tyri and kept it in the docking bay of the Firefly. Ci'el often used it for short trips. For some time, Ci'el was of the opinion that they should attempt to find the Jedi and return to the Order, but Natan was never in agreement. Her love for him was of far more importance to her than the Order would ever be, however, and she eventually decided that the Masters would not be very accepting of that fact. It was often said, after all, that love was allowed in the Order so long as it did not take precedence over one's duties as a Jedi, and Ci'el knew that nothing took precedence in her life over Natan. So instead she resigned herself to learning as much as she could about the light side and the ways of the Force from her fiance as they lived on the Firefly. She still longs to be reunited with the Jedi and finish her training, but her need to stay with Natan is far more important to her. They have begun to make plans to finally be married, and their lives finally seem to be in harmony.
PERSONALITY: Ci’el believes there is a degree of goodness in everyone, no matter how small it may be. Regardless of how dark or evil someone may seem, she believes they can be pulled back to the light given the right situation and encouragement. Her face is like an open book, and you can often see her emotions displayed across it. When she is nervous, she usually fidgets with her lekku or bites her lip. When she is happy, you can see it in every fiber of her being, and she spreads this joy to others. She has a habit of throwing in a few Twi’leki words here and there in casual Basic conversation (Twi'lek dictionary here). Her name is Twi’leki for “From Heaven” or “Heavenly,” and many people would say that it describes her well. She loves to sing and dance, and can often be heard humming the same melody, though she has never told anyone where the melody is from. She is overly humble, to the point of it being somewhat ridiculous. She prefers quiet life in nature to a bustling city life. Ci’el is usually even-tempered, but is known to have bouts of anger when her loved ones are threatened; possibly because they remind her of the day when Twi’lek slavers killed her own mother. Above all, however, her greatest power, her greatest strength, is her ability to love deeply with all her heart, and to forgive those who have hurt her.
Ci'el has changed a bit since she first came to Dantooine. At the young age of seventeen, she was fearful, somewhat innocent, overly trusting, and lacking confidence. She would never have used swear words, and tended to have an optimistic view of the world. During her years alone and separate from the Jedi Order she has gained a good deal of confidence, though along with that she has developed severe trust issues and a sense of paranoia. The world has beaten her down and stolen everything she once valued in life. However, a few things about her will always remain steadfast and true. One thing that cannot be taken from her is her will to survive and hope, along with her determination to find goodness in everyone. While she is not cheerful like she once was, she is strong, and she will persevere through life. She swears when the situation calls for it, and is more brash and brutally honest than she ever was before. She can fit right in at a cantina where once she would be shocked and embarrassed by people's behavior at such places. Ci'el has also changed physically. While she has always had a beautiful face, now that she is in her twenties she finally has a body to match it, one that makes males catcall and drool when they see her. Yet, somehow, she remains as humble as ever. She has become a little rough around the edges, but she is the same person she has always been.
Her enslavement by Morn caused her to break mentally in a way that most people could never live through. She will never fully recover from that experience, and some nights only the sound of Natan's voice and the feel of his arms around her can break her out of the reverie of her nightmares. She has become claustrophobic and cannot be left alone for long periods of time, because small places and solidarity remind her of the chamber Morn confined her in for weeks. She panics when anything is placed or locked around her wrists and refuses to wear any bangles or bracelets, because they are too similar to the handcuffs used to keep her prisoner. She is mostly mentally stable now, but only because she has been reunited with Natan.
APPEARANCE: Ci’el is a Tyrian Twi’lek, meaning her skin is a deep shade of purple. She has green eyes and often wears a vibrant shade of green on her lips and nails. She is of medium height and average weight, skinny but curvy in all the right places. Across her forehead she has a black tattoo that starts in between her eyebrows and curves out above her eyes. It is shaped much like the top half of a heart, but with swirls and curls that bring attention to her eyes. When she uses her light/electricity powers, her skin turns red, almost as if it has been scorched. Her eyes also blaze a fiery golden-red. She remains this way for a few minutes to a few hours after using her powers, depending on the intensity and amount of power she has used. She has seen several healers and medical professionals for an explanation of why this happens, but none have been able to give her an answer. She is known to wear magnificent headpieces and lekku adornments that can only be described as regal, and clothes to match them, though she has no markings on her lekku. Like most Twi’leks, she is not overly modest, though she is certainly not the most scandalous dresser in the galaxy. While she was in hiding she wore the engagement ring of the fiance she believed to be dead, a green rainbow gem with a intricate gold band, on a chain around her neck, but now that she is reunited with him she never takes it off her ring finger.
