RP Rules
Posting style• All in-character posts should be written in: (1) proper English, (2) present tense, (3) the third person. There should be no use of asterisks.
• All dialogue should be separated from the narrative by a new line and be enclosed in "quotation marks".
• When speaking over a comlink/hologram (and, in rare cases, the Force), speech should be enclosed in ::double colons::
• To indicate a non-Basic
? "Basic" is the in-universe name given to what we know to be English language, «double less/greater than signs» should be placed around the English speech.
• Character thoughts should be in
italics and either embedded in the narrative or separated like dialogue.
• Colored text may only be used for indicating NPC characters' dialogue within your post.
• The names of Force powers can be highlighted with
bold text.
Questionable contentALL posts, including IC ones, need to follow the
ProBoards Community Guidelines. As a rule of thumb, you can say that <something potentially inappropriate> has taken place, but do not go into any detail. Per the
ProBoards TOS, all posts must be suitable for ages
13 and up.
Character Levels and timelineAll characters should abide by their IE Character Level (or "rank"), meaning that a higher level character should be more likely to defeat/outwit/etc a lower level character. All new fanon
? A character of your own creation characters will start at Level
1; for example, you cannot start as a Sith Lord, you have to work up from being a Sith Hopeful. Canon
? A character created in an official Star Wars product characters have a fixed Level. For more information on the Character Levels, see the
advancement board.
All characters, equipment and the like should fit in with the
current timeline.
Usage of NPCsNON-combat NPCs
? A temporary character used to provide detail/context, like a bartender are unrestricted, provided they do stay as non-combatants. The number of combat NPCs you may use is reliant on your Character Level, example: a Level 1 character can use 1 NPC, a Level 7 can use 7 NPCs, and so on. Combat NPCs are limited to a maximum Level of 2.
Faction NPCs may be of higher Level and, as a result, first require permission from your Faction Leader to use. Some common NPCs (such as generic Republic Soldiers) are on their own accounts. Again, ask your Faction Leader for permission and they will give you the login details. A listing of current Faction NPCs can be found in the
character ranking list.
CombatYou must let your opponent respond to attacks you make and they will then let you respond to their counter-attacks. The result of your attacks are reliant on the individual being attacked: you cannot determine the effect on your opponent. Likewise, the receiver cannot ignore or change the incoming attack although they
may, if capable to do so, dodge/deflect/parry the attack.
You
may automatically claim a hit after 48 hours of no response (unless you have acknowledged a notification of absence by the other player 48 hours in advance), although it is often preferable to wait longer. Note that, outside of combat, fair reasoning should dictate how long to wait before posting again.
Fatal, limb-severing or other grievously wounding attacks are not allowed without the receiver's permission. Admins should be notified of character deaths (mainly so that we can update the character list).
The One-Week Rule
In a situation wherein two or more players are interacting and one player does not post when it is their turn for a week or more, the remaining player(s) may initiate the One-Week Rule if they so choose. The course of action for the One-Week Rule are as follows:
1. A player has been absent from an active storyline for a week or more for no explained reason.
2. The remaining player(s) must make a reasonable effort to contact the absent player. This can be done via PM, email if available, the use of an instant messaging system, or other means of contact (phone, text, etc.) if available.
3. If there is no response from the absent player after 48 hours following the contact attempt, the remaining player(s) may advance the plot by either A) ignoring the character of the absent player in what way best fits within the scene or, B) if that is not possible given the details of the scene, treat the absent player's character as a protected NPC in such a way as to minimize their use to the extent possible. The B option may ONLY be used after the player(s) consults a mod or admin with their planned use of the absent player's character.Godmodding/meta-gaming/power-playing of ANY form is strictly forbidden.
