”Oh.”
She sighed with relief and cuddled up to him.
”Jef… Jef jef jef.”
Ajjiaka smiled tracing a finger along his hand, touching his fingertips…she stared at his hand, dazing off into space as she watched her fingers tracing over his fingers. She thoughtfully ran offer the occurrances of the past couple days. For 6 years she had never felt like anyone could ever care about her the way her father did. And now... she felt like someone cared about her again. She wrapped an arm around his waist and pressed her face to his neck once more.

Ajay wrapped her around his waist, causing him to turn a slightly silverish colour. They stayed like this for a while, Ajay's arm around his waist, her head against his neck. At some point during this, his arm had found its way around her shoulders.
A few minutes passed.
A thought penetrated the dream like state his mind was currently in. It nagged him to be heard, so eventually he voiced his thought,
"So Ajay, what will you do after this?"

”After what?”
Ajjiaka asked quizzically. What exactly did he mean? After…. What? She pulled her face away from his neck and looked into his eyes, tilting her head.

"Erm after the Wheel, after you get out of the spice dealing business."
He had thought it had been obvious what he asked.

”I...don’t know… I kinda just… thought I’d be…with…. You…”
She said, voice getting quieter with each word. She looked away then back at him nervously, chewing on the inside of her cheek. Ajay fiddled with his finger, unsure if what she said was good or bad.
”I… I mean… for a while….I mean… As long as you don’t mind me hanging around…”
She paused.
”If you don’t want me around then… I don’t know what I will do.”

Why did she keep on thinking he was going to leave her, never to talk to her ever again?
He looked at Ajay,
"Do you think I'm just going to ignore your existence after it or something? You keep on seemingly think it is going to happen."

”Nobody but my father has ever cared about me and he died…”
I just don’t trust anything good
Her mind added. It just felt too good to be true. She sighed.
”I’m sorry.”
Ajjiaka took his hand in her own. She stared at him almost in a way that could be taken as creepy. She searched his face, trying to read his body language and facial expressions.

That was sorta creepy. Did she think he was going to die?
"I'll stay around as long as you want me to"
Then he added quickly, sorta scared and a little unsure, and rather creeped out
"Um....I don't think I'm going to die........"

She smiled.
”Well good.”
She snuggled up against him.
”It’s weird… but… I have this feeling… like… I…”
Eyes narrowed as she planned out what she was going to say next, since her stupid mouth was working faster than her brain.
”Have known you so much longer than I really have.”
Ajjiaka looked at his body, then up to his face, giving him a smile.

That got his attention, looking her in the eye, puzzlement obvious, he then asked,
"How exactly do you mean Ajay?"

Ajjiaka thought for a moment.
”I don’t know I just feel like it’s been longer than a couple days.”
She looked into his eyes still.
”You hungry at all?”
She asked.

Before he could think of anything much less say anything, his stomach rumbled loudly in response.
Grinning he said, "I think that just about answers it doesn't it?" then he added quickly "um you got anything that is frozen by chance? I have a sudden craving for something frozen."

”Well I suppose we can check on that.”
She traced her fingers across his stomach, ever-so-gently. Ajjiaka really didn’t want to move, but she was hungry too.
She waited for him to move first.

As comfortable as he was, Jefardi was still starving, standing up from his comfortable spot, he held on to Ajay's hand and said, "come on, we need some food," and walked down the corriodor to the cargo hold that was also the improvived kitchen.
"So where would you keep cold foodstuff?" asked Jefardi
He kept on looking high and low but couldn't find a single hint of any sorta of freezer here.

”There’s a cold storage inside the main food vault.”
Ajjiaka gestured. She clung to his arm, wrapping both of her arms around one of his.
She sighed, resting her cheek on his upper arm.

Digging out some food from the cold storage as well as this iced food that caused his head to hurt. He had it before. He wasn't going to try it again. Taking some Nerf steaks from the freezer, he started to warm them up.
It was really hard to do it, with Ajay attached to his arm, but he liked her there regardless.
Looking down at Ajay, he then said, "So what do you want to do? The steaks are going to take a hour, an hour and a half to thaw."

Ajjiaka sighed and looked up at him.
”There isn’t much to do. I could play a little tune on my flute.”
She joked and giggled.
”is there anything you would like to do.”
He had been shirtless all day. She wondered momentarily if that had been planned, not that it mattered. Her head started to hurt a little and she rubbed it gently. The pain was starting to come back. She didn’t care too much, but remembered her sword lie on the ground in the garage.

Jefardi noticed, that she was rubbing her head.
"Hey are you okay?" he asked, quickly moving to sit her down on a box, the Dried Tach Glands box.
After a few moments of making sure she was okay, he asked, "Well I would like to hear about your days hunting, if you wouldn't mind sharing."

Ajjiaka nodded.
”I’m alright… thanks.”
He wanted to know about hunting? She thought back to the days where it was her life.
”I suppose I haven’t told you much about it. Well… oh! There was this one time when my dad took me to the cave of a krayt dragon. He wanted to show me what to look out for… signs… calls... See Krayt dragons are huge, and very, very dangerous. You have to know what you’re looking for when you’re out in the dune sea.”
She explained, leaning into him once more.
”on our way there, we got attacked by a herd of wraid when we were too close to their territory. I was trying to kill one, it was terrifying as it stood over me. You would never believe something so easily hunted could be so vicious. But that’s not the most interesting thing. You remember when I told you a group of Tusken raiders killed my father? Well they saved us. Mostly because their bantha herd was nearby.”

Jefardi listened as she spun a yarn about her days hunting.
After she finished, the indicator went off on the Nerf steaks
Odd he thought, it only took a few minutes not an hour. I must of read the package wrong, oh well food is food eh?
Setting down a place on the makeshift table for himself and Ajay, he sat down and started consuming tasty nerf steaks.

Ajjiaka sat on the opposing side of the makeshift table and began eating the nerf steak that was in front of her. She kept thinking about what she wanted to talk to him about. The steak was pretty good, certainly not her most favorite thing but still good. She enjoyed it. Getting up, she went to go get a glass of water for both of them and took a drink of hers.
”Jef, I have to ask something.”
She said taking a drink and thinking of what exactly that she wanted to say and how she wanted to say it.
”Well… I was wondering. What…uh… what do you think of… me? Now that you know…. who I am.”
She fiddled with the hem of her shirt, and gazed over at him shyly, nervously.

"I..um...you...hot?"
Was all he could thing to say, which must of sounded like a fool thing to say. It also did not make any sense. After a minute of opening his mouth and gibberish coming out he finally exclaimed
"elaine! thaesse d'yaebl, voe'rle!"
Realizing that she wouldn't understand it, thankfully, Jefardi then said slowly, so he could be understood, and so his mouth wouldn't start running,
"Give me a moment, I need to think, my mouth is running while my brain isn't, sorry" he said quickly before looking up at the ceiling, leaning back on his box, in the hopes that it would look casual.
"What do I think of her, that is a good question.." he muttered to himself, quiet enough he hoped that she wouldn't hear him.
Jefardi needed to think it out logically, rambling wouldn't help here, in this situation. All it would do would be to embarrass him.
Well, Ajay is a attractive, at the very least, very pretty human female. But anyone could tell that by a glance. But that was a shallow view, only based on physical appearance. If one were to look a bit closer at her appearance, it would tell things, but I am not that perceptive, or rather I don't know what to do with that information.
She had also been one of the only people to even show a kindness to him in this galaxy, which won a lot of points with him. But at the same time she had her own flaws, being a spice runner for the last six years. Yet she had to do that to survive, had I been in that situation I wouldn't know what I would do, if my family was gone and I was thrown onto a foreign world. Although I was thrown on to any number of foreign worlds, but I had a little bit of credits to start out with. He couldn't blame her for that, but it did beg the question, if she was doing this because he had asked her, or because she actually wanted to get out of the business, but just needed a slight push. That was something that he needed to figure out later, if he had only slightly pushed her onto her current path, or if she had only slightly altered her course to it.
The other thing that he needed to factor in to it, was he technically had sworn a debt to her, not for life or anything, but it was a debt all the same. However he had been half delirious at the time of it, now it had been two days since then, and he needed to figure out whether or not if she actually deserved it. Again how much she actually liked being a spice runner, versus being forced into it.
Then there was the fact that he liked her. Jefardi would like to stay with her, like she kept on asking, but there was a piece of advice his sister told him once, that seemed to make stupid amounts of sense then and now.
'If you ever leave Firrerre, don't get attached to 'humans. Nothing good will come of it. Or of any other species that doesn't live at least as long as I have. They are all a bunch of short sighted fools, who act on impulse, and will never, ever think things through. You can take advantage of them because of it, but if you get attached to one of them.....well our lifetime is usually thirteen, fourteen longer then theirs. You know what I mean, don't make me spell it out okay?'
Oops, that was a semi-random tangent...although....it seemed to apply to this situation in ways. Jefardi wasn't quite willing yet to try and see the implications of that thought.
Quickly going off on to another thought process, he was curious as to what she thought of him.....had he made a good impression on her?
Ajay seemed to be interested in Jefardi, although, he couldn't know for sure. Actually in retrospect, she acted a lot like on of Lorrdian friends, the only female friend he had back on Firrerre, Lucy. She started to act...almost similar to Ajay, right before he had left. It was odd.
Regardless, he needed to give an answer, because it had been nearly fifteen minutes, since he had started to think,
Still leaned back on his box, still staring at the ceiling, he finally answered slowly,
"I think you are a good person, maybe a little misguided...I don't know how to phrase it precisely in words, but in the end I think you are a good person, at least from what I've seen you do."
As he finished he shivered slightly.
What the...?
Then he realized that he still didn't have a shirt on.
FRAK.
This entire time, Ajay had been staring at him, he had forgotten he didn't have a shirt on.
Why didn't she tell me?
Forgetting to balance on the box, he fell backwards off of it on to his back.
Jefardi blushed a deep shade of red, which luckily she couldn't see as he was stuck on his back, away from her vision and quickly said, "um....I need....to....go....now..."
Quickly picking himself off the ground, and trying to casually get out of the cargo hold as fast as he could, he finally mercifully got out of there within a matter of seconds. Heading for the medbay, where he knew his jacket was still, and that it didn't have a ton of stab holes in the back, he grabbed it, put it on, zipping it up, and walked back into the cargo hold, with a slightly sheepish grin on his face, and more then a little of red in his face,
"Uh...I feel better now"
Sitting back down on the box, he knew he must seem like a bumbling idiot but oh well at this point.
Jefardi was still curious however, as to what Ajay thought of him, and asked her,
"So...same question, what do you think of me?"
After he asked it, he leaned forward on the box slightly, eagerly awaiting an answer, his earlier embarrassment forgotten.

Jefardi stumbled a few words out, but in no real particular order, so she thought. With an eyebrow raised, she waited on him to collect his thoughts. He then said something in his native tongue, causing both of Ajjiaka’s eyebrows to rise. He apologized. She shrugged and nodded nonchalantly sitting on the box opposing Jefardi’s. Her question, however innocent, could be seen as extremely loaded, which was something she had to take into effect. She took a drink of water as he mumbled to himself; in return Jefardi received an expectant gaze from her blueish eyes. She waited.
…and waited.
……..and… waited….?
Her head tilted slightly. What was he thinking so hard about? But she had to know the answer. She had to know he wouldn’t just up and leave her. While it might seem like an easy thing to trust someone after they have promised a few times not to do something, Ajjiaka had never really trusted that, and likely never would. While she trusted Jefardi with information about herself she still wasn’t sure if she could fully trust him. Could she? Would she? She assumed his response would help her decide, not knowing if it truly would. Finally after what seemed like forever he spoke.
At least he knew she was a good person. That’s all she could hope for, after all she had done..
Jefardi shivered and fell off the box. She looked over at him, concerned. He got up, rather in a rush and left.
weird..
Her mind stated plainly.
Jefardi returned with a jacket on. Ajjiaka looked thoughtful, was it really that cold? She didn’t think it was cold. His face was red, and he seemed embarrassed a bit. Being cold was nothing to be embarrassed about… space was void of warmth, though she was certain the temperature control settings were just fine, especially when you considered that Ajjiaka kept her ship at a fairly high temperature as she was used to the suns of tatooine.
The entire time, she hadn’t said a word and now, as he spoke she was forced to speak as well.
What did she think of him? Ah, she might have figured the question would be tossed back in her direction.
She blinked slowly and looked up, as she thought.
Jefardi was handsome, muscular… No doubt skilled in combat. She would be easily defended by his side. And he was kind, thoughtful… mostly. She weighed this. From the moment she had met him he had been there with a kind word and a warm embrace. He hadn’t really said anything to make her think twice about his kindness. He was reassuring. But… He hadn’t come to check on her at all the previous day, not even once. He had known she was upset, surely he had seen the hurt, but still he left her alone. However, contrary to that he had come in immediately the next morning with a meal and a hug, helping her to know everything would be alright. But did that change it at all. Now, she had to admit that what she had told him was hard to digest. It was potentially one of the worst crimes, but… she wasn’t the one selling the spice or taking it… she simply moved it around. But perhaps that was worse. But could a man that left her alone, in a time of need, be trusted to stay around? Was that fair to ask that question? Probably not. It wasn’t fair at all. But she couldn’t shake that thought.
But she liked him.
And he seemed to care more about her than anyone had since her father and… she had already admitted that to herself several times. He really was sweet too.
She looked back at him and into his eyes. Her gaze seemed to stab into his and take hold.
”You’re a good guy, perhaps better than I deserve.”
Then a soft smile appeared.
”I like you.”

He had started to naw on nerf steak while she had thought. Then she had said that she gave her answer. He choked on his steak.
She liked him.
It confirmed what he thought.
The thought made him happy inside.
He was still choking on his steak, and then he fell over.
